What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I will arrive to your home. Set up the table for healing or massage.  I will ask you to fill out a quick questionnaire. This will ask you about allergies, medical diagnosis,  medications. It will ask you what you want done, the problem areas, what your expectations are. For a massage,  we will usually start face down, unless the problem is with a supine area. For healings, you will be face up. If you are more comfortable on the couch for a healing, no problem. For hospice massage, the massage can be done with the client in bed, chair, or wheelchair, and being extra careful of any catheters,  feeding tubes or wound vacs. The client is free to ask for changes in the pressure, or to work more on a certain area, during the massage. During the healing, the client may talk freely, or ask that the conversation be held to a minimum. During the healing, if the client sees images of a childhood memory, or wants to laugh or cry, it is encouraged to express these feelings. Each session is tailored toward the individual.

How did you get started in this business?

I was the nurse and caregiver growing up. My children's father,  and one of our children had chronic kidney stones, and frequent hospitalizations. My role as nurse and caregiver continued. I decided to go to nursing school. I already knew a lot about the kidneys, but was grateful to learn about the other body systems. In 1998, one of my co workers at a Home Health Agency I was working at, told me she was attending massage school. She showed me her book, and pictures of the effleurage, parties are, tapotement. I remember laughing,  and saying that I would never do that! She kept after me for a year to try it, it was really rewarding. Finally, I gave in and went. I am so glad I did. It was a whole new approach to health and wellness. In the class, I also learned about Reiki, something I had never heard of before. So, added Reiki to my list of services.  In 2002, I started at The School of Transformation and Healing,  in Houston, Texas.  I completed the 3 year program on conducting healings on the chakras and aura, and received a Diploma of Master Healer. I have added lots of other modalities since then. It is a journey, ever learning, and giving back.

What types of customers have you worked with?

In massage, I have worked with people from all walks of life, levels of health. A lot of women with auto immune issues seem to gravitate to me. I have worked on the elderly,  and Hospice patients. In energy work, there  is such a variety of physical, emotional, spiritual blockages, everyone is so different. I prefer not to work on minors, however.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

In massage, I am constantly amazed by the pain relief and flexibility clients feel, usually the next day. In healing, I did a chakra clearing on a lady who was having severe sacroiliac and hip pain on one side. I found the sacral chakra sealed, and removed layer after layer of stagnant energy.  As the area started clearing, she started smiling, saying the pain was diminishing. I the told her all the stagnant energy was gone, and the chakra was radiating light. She was happy and excited. She said she could actually feel how clear it was. That was very gratifying.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Look at their years of experience, certifications, mission statement, reviews.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

For a massage, pain area, pain level, amount of pressure they want, do they just want to relax, do they only want upper body massaged, do they have any rashes, open wounds, or are they on an antibiotic for an infection (these would mean a massage could not be done at this time).                                                   For an energy healing,  the client should ask themselves, do I want the healing to alleviate physical, emotional, mental or spiritual pain? Am I coming for a healing for thyroid issues (5th chakra), do I have trouble being grounded (1st chakra), or do I feel I need an overall clearing of my energy field, is there someone in my past I can't let go of, but want to? (energetic cords)
