How did you get started in this business?
I was drawn to the healing arts in the late 1980’s through my own work of healing and self discovery. With a background in psychology studies (BA) from the Univ of South Florida I moved from the business world to begin my bodywork practice in 1994 after gaining certifications from The Academy of Somatic Healing Arts in Atlanta.
Through workshops I learned the techniques of hypnotherapy in 2004 and began incorporating them as a compliment to the relaxation response one finds in bodywork.
In 2017 I studied at the Atlanta Center for Hypnosis Training gaining certifications in both Clinical and Medical Hypnosis.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My client base is quite varied from young moms needing a break to de-stress all the way to seniors with joint pain. I work with clients who are pregnant, clients with back and hip pain, the office worker who has tight achy neck and shoulders, athletes and otheres in training, people with knee and foot pain, wheelchair bound people (my clininc is accessable), sciatica, plantar faciatis, migraines and tension headaches as well as clients who are stressed/achey from work, relationships, traveling or even just gardening.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I worked with an 87 year old mom of one of my clients. It was her first massage. She wanted to come back the next day!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
As alway determine if the therapist's modalities fits your needs.
I prefer a phone conversation initially with my clients to determine their needs, althought those who are referred to me from other clients usually don't request that and simply book in with the consult done on first appointment.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How much experience do you have?
What training have you had? Have therapist explain types of training if you don't know what is it.
How do you take payment?
