Kiema Massage
About
I am passionate about healing and I provide an extremely effective, healing and relaxing massage that provides lasting results and guarantees a positive change.
Hello! I'm Alexandria Kiema LMP,LA, the therapist behind the name Kiema Massage. I graduated from Cortiva Institute of Seattle March 2012. I have been steadily expanding my skills and knowledge base having worked with over a thousand clients, logging hundreds of hours studying and researching as I stay up to date on the best techniques and the latest research in my field. My passion is Massage Therapy, but I am a Therapist of the Mind, Body, and Soul as well. I understand that the stresses that affect our muscles have affected our hearts and minds first, and I believe that upon leaving the Kiema Studio, not only have you received an AMAZING massage, but your spirit has been uplifted and enlightened. Your outlook on life in general has changed! A feeling of empowerment has washed over you and now you can take on the world! These are the results of a truly successful massage. Uplifting the mind and spirit is a BIG part of relieving our bodies from stress and tension and I do my very best to get my clients to that point with every massage I perform.
I have spent the better part of a decade searching for the "best" massage - and I have found many therapists who I have deemed "excellent" at many things, but I have yet to find one who encompasses the ability to address ALL of my areas of stress while simultaneously giving a solid massage with long lasting results. I believe that years of experience, attention to detail, and the skill of adaptability(perfected over years with practiced trial and error), the small tweaks made as new information is learned and implemented, and the utilization of the entire "toolbox" of skills learned, sets the Kiema Signature Experience apart from the crowd as an Outstanding Massage.
I got into the field of massage therapy because I craved a way to help heal and soothe people in a holistic manner. I wanted to connect with people as a real person, not as a merchant, but as a human being, a Real person. I am a wife and mother, a young, fierce, independent woman of color intent on making her mark on the world. I want to meet people, hear their stories and leave a positive impression on their minds and an empowering impact on their lives. I want the clients who visit Kiema Massage to leave feeling and KNOWING that they are LOVED, CARED FOR, IMPORTANT and especially, that they feel heard. When I first got into the profession of Massage therapy, I felt then, and I still do now, that mindful touch is extremely powerful. Add to that a therapist who is a truly empathetic person, who mindfully pours positive energy into each muscle she touches, and she has ALL her attention focused solely on YOU. Rarely does anyone truly focus on each other now that there are so many ways to connect via electronic devices. Distractions are everywhere.... everywhere, except here in the Kiema Studio. Here, the focus is on You the whole time, every time.
The Kiema Signature Experience combines the Hawaiian modality Lomi Lomi with Swedish and Deep Tissue techniques to create a customized, unique massage for every client. No two massages are the same just as no two people are the same.
I am a real person. I have responsibilities at home, a family with 2 young kids (My oldest, Issiah, is 10 years old, my daughter, Lexi is 1 year old), many obligations and obstacles in my path, the same things most of us deal with every day! I am just like you! I am a real and genuine person with the goal of reminding you that the things You do matter, that Your needs are Important, and that there is a such thing as a pain-free, stress-free, relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated life out there waiting for you! It all starts with a Kiema Massage.
Lets start on making it happen today.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a 2012 graduate from Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy in Seattle, where I studied directly with and under instructors from the School of Brian Utting and Heida Brenneke (incredibly talented and highly renowned Massage Therapists). I completed a 1000hr program over 15months and simultaneously completed another 500hrs of Equine Massage training as an apprentice to Pam Connelley LMP, LA (a highly experienced and talented Equine and Myofacial therapist). And I mentored for 3 years with Tracy Gray LMP, a highly skilled, medical and injury treatment therapist whose very successful practice has been established for almost 30 years, and focuses entirely on medical and auto Insurance claims for clients who have been injured. I have worked alongside these talented, very experienced professionals and have implemented their best advice into my own practice. Prior to massage school, I graduated from Bellevue College with degrees in Psychology, Business and Biology and in preparation for a healthcare career as either an RN, a Radiologist or a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technician (I was not sure which path I would choose yet) I took Every science course and every anatomy and physiology, psychology and sociology course that Bellevue College offered. I continuously studied and earned BC credits and degrees from 2007-2012, while also building my family and preparing to launch my business once my license was received in early 2012.

How did you get started in this business?
I was in school at Bellevue College in Washington state, focusing of a career in Healthcsre and with a passion for how the mind and body work. I took Every Science and Psychology class that BC offered and craved even more. I happened love working one on one with people, and I am a strong believer that to be free in America, one MUST own a business of their own. All these things together pointed me in the direction of masssge, and the moment I stepped into the environment that Btian Utting and Heida Brenneke had created at Cortiva in Seattle, I fell in Love with the profession. I was a natural and my prior knowledge and true passion for understanding how the mind and body work together gave me a deeper insight than most at how to effectively treat and heal my clients. I was organized and ambitious and had my business plan written and prepared even before I graduated or recieved my license, and once I did, I opened my business immediately and also started making connections with other therapists to learn from and mentor with. I LOVE my industry, and my passion for it just continues to grow each year!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I'd say you found her! I do think that I am the best person to help you with your pain relief and relaxation needs, but I do understand that convienience is very important too. If anyone is too far away to come try a Kiema Massage, I know many therapists who I can refer you to as well.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What results do they expect, and in what time frame?
Are the expected results realistic?
Are they willing to do stretching or exercises outside the massage time to maintain their progress?
