A Thai massage, or Thai yoga massage, is a full-body massage traditionally done on a mat on the floor, with the client fully clothed. The therapist uses a combination of gentle compression, acupressure, and moving your body through a series of yoga-like stretches. Research shows Thai massage can reduce stress, boost energy, relieve tension, promote circulation, and improve range of motion.
Thai massage techniques originated in Thailand over 2,000 years ago. Today, many therapists offer traditional Thai yoga massage, or a combination of Thai and Swedish massage to get the best of both worlds. Some facilities offer "Table Thai", using a table wide enough to hold both you and the therapist, ideal for those who have difficulty getting down to and up from the floor.
