How did you get started in this business?
After working for several years as an RN I realized it wasn't for me. I wanted to still be able to help people but in a less stressful environment and on a more personal level. I believe that massage can help people in a variety of ways and as you get to know a client you can tailor your massage is based on their needs.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with children as young as 8 years old. Up to geriatrics. I worked with people, post-op, people recovering from knee and hip surgeries, replacements, etc. I've worked on professional athletes, former Olympic competitors , actors, etc
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Ask if they have any certifications. And don't be afraid to ask about their background and experience.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is the main thing that you want to get out of this massage? Are you wanting to relax? Or are you wanting a specific problem worked on? The most important question is are you going to let the therapist do their job? We are not magic. We have to be able to get to your muscle. Therefore, if you want something worked out or want a sports massage or something, understand it's not going to be pleasant the entire time. There will be moments of discomfort. The most important thing to remember is that it's your session. Communicate with your therapist as to what you want before and during the session, even if they don't ask
