Courtney Keiser, MA, LPC-Intern Discovering Your Life Therapy
About
I work with individuals who are considered highly sensitive people. Highly sensitive people are those who are sensitive to energy, other's emotions, spiritual energy, and have a uniquely highly intuitive nature. I am someone who is considered a highly sensitive person. I understand very well some of the experiences you may have gone through in your life trying to understand this "gift" of insight and otherworldy abilities, especially when it feels like no one else gets it, no one believes you, or you are feeling alone because you haven't told anyone.
Although, I focus on work with highly sensitive people, it may not be the reason why someone may come in for therapy. I typically see individuals who are experiencing symtpoms from trauma, grief and loss, infidelity in relationships, anxiety, depression, and individuals living with autism.
I use an integrative approach that utilizes various types of therapeutic approaches so that I can meet the unique needs of each individual. Within an integrative approach I use most often, but not limited to: mindfulness-based cognitive behavior therapy (MB-CBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered, jungian, experiential, solution-focused, narrative therapy, attachment-focused, trauma-informed, and non-violent communication.
As a therapist my mission is not only to provide you with support, but also compassion, acceptance, comfort, and understanding of your experience. I want you to know that you are not alone, we will get through this together. I value a collaborative approach to therapy, you are the driver of the therapy and I am just the passenger.
Therapy is all about you. Whatever you want to focus on and create your goals around is up to you. What we do and not do in therapy is all up to you. I want you to get out of therapy what you are looking for and with that means you are ready to take on what has been holding you back or bringing you down. You are ready to take the reins and be the driver of your own life. I would be honored to help you build the best new vehicle (mind/body/soul/you) for you to explore through the journey of life with.
I enjoy the ability to help individuals get out of that stuck place. I love seeing my clients flourish and excel in areas of life never thought possible. Not only do clients learn from me, but I learn from every single one of them. I have extraordinary therapeutic relationships with my clients that are very special to me and each one is unique.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with a free 30 minute consultation either in person if the client lives near or in Austin, or conducted online through my doxy.me virtual therapy room.
I take this 30 minutes to go over any questions that either of us has. We go over paperwork, policies, and pricing. This time allows us to get a feel for each other and to see if we are a good match. I will give you a run down of how I do therapy, my approach, and treatment planning. Then you are free to ask any questions or share any concerns. Then we will schedule a session for the following week.
I always suggest that for the first 3 months we see each other once a week for 50 minutes, as research has proven that the best results in therapy are seen from weekly sessions for up to 3 months. Then we can make adjustments at the 3 month mark to discuss changing up the frequency of sessions.
Always provide 24 hour notice of any cancellations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's in Counseling with a focus on Licensed Professional Counselor from St. Edward's University.
I have training in Applied Behavioral Analysis from working with individuals living with Autism from my previous work at College Living Experience. I worked as a social coach and mentor for young adults living with autism. The program focused on social goals and independent living skills goals.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I DO NOT TAKE INSURANCE
My current pricing is :
$80 for 50 minutes for individual counseling for adults.
$110 for 90 minutes for individual counseling for adults.
I currently DO NOT have any sliding scale slots available, but will provide information in case one of the slots opens up. Sliding Scale: $60 for 50 minutes for individual counseling for adults if applicable based on annual income.
I also have charges for late cancellation and no shows.
How did you get started in this business?
I had a not so great experience with a therapist as a young adult. I struggled many times throughout my life and it took me hitting rock bottom to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. After some soul searching, I finally discovered my path. I have not looked back since.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with various types of people from all walks of life. I tend to focus on individuals who are considered highly sensitive people, but I have experience working with many types of people. I enjoy working with individuals who have a sense of humor, aren't afraid of curse words, who have the ability to gain insight, and who have a strong connection to their intuition.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
If the therapist offers a free consultation, take it. It is a great way to get a feel for each other. If you decide you don't want to meet or decide to go with another counselor, reach out and let the therapist know. Try to give a 24 hour notice and when it is not possible, still reach out because it is common courtisey.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Double check that you have read the pro's pricing. Therapists will list their price and if they take insurance or not. Please take the extra step of looking at your finances prior to reaching out to pros so that you are know what you can afford and are willing to pay, especially when insurance is not taken.
It is also a good idea to think through what you are coming into therapy for.
