About

I've been doing professional counseling for over 25 years.

I combine my therapeutic training with training in Buddhism and my own relationship experience. I'm married and have two teen-age boys.

My specialties are working with men, with couples and with individuals who are seeking deeper meaning in their lives.

I love seeing the lights go on in my clients when they come to an understanding of how they've created the mess they're in and how they can get themselves out of it!

My passion is helping people learn how to treat themselves more kindly and start to relate with parts of themselves that used to be cut off or in hiding.

I love helping couples upgrade their relationship so that it's more honest and more in line with who they are today

Hes kept me on the rails. Hes helped me identify the aspects of my life that need attending to and hes helped me lay out plans for how to do the tending. Hes listened to my problems and helped me solve them so I can move forward and uphold my responsibilities like a competent adult.

Tom is amazing. He is so caring and is truly invested in his clients mental and emotional health. Tom saved our marriage and my husband and I have seen Tom individually for other issues that come up. He was a saving grace in a dark time for both my husband and me. He is truly someone I trust and would highly recommend him for couples counseling as well as men’s work.

Frequently asked questions

We talk on the phone and see if we'd be a good fit.

If we feel like we'd be a good fit, we make an appointment and I send the person some paperwork, then they show up for their appointment and we get started.

I do work with clients over phone or skype if they're out of the area.  I will work with clients over phone or skype if they're in the area, but my preference is to do counseling in person whenever possible.

I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology and a License

Yes. My fee is $120 for 50 minutes or

$150 for 80 minute sessions.

In my late 20's I realized that I had always enjoyed talking and listening to people so I decided to go to graduate school in counseling psychology. After that I had jobs in drug and alcohol treatment, foster care, short-term treatment for chronically mental ill persons, community clinics.  I also worked in Mendocino Co. Mental health (in Ca.) for 6 years and then 3 more years as the mental health counselor in the Juvenile Detention center.  I've run men's groups for 7 years and been in private practice since 2003.

Talk to the pro first, ask all your questions, and see if you feel relaxed talking to them. For counseling, it's also ok to have a session before deciding if you want to commit to doing a piece of work with that person.

Is this person going to have the education and experience to be able to help me with my situation?

Are they in my price range?
