Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I introduce myself, ask a few questions about my new guest. I have new client intake forms, as well as a care plan sheet for clients to fill out so I can keep track of the goal we are working towards and the progress. I may ask some more questions. Then I will go through the "table talk" where I inform the client on how to lay on the massage table, and some of the steps I will be taking to relieve their stress and pains. I always ask for consent to massage before making contact, I want to ensure comfortability! I tell my clients I may be quiet throughout most of the service, I will check in a few times, but feel free to ask questions or chat. And I always tell clients to let me know on pressure. I want to ensure the most relaxation and best outcome for each client.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 11 months of advanced medical massage school. I have completed 2 continuing education courses, prenatal massage and fibromyalgia care. I am 5 months into being a first year licensed massage therapist.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
$40/half hour $60/full hour $90/90 minute sessions $10/in town traveling fee $20-25/out of town traveling fee depending on mileage.
I have set my prices lower than most therpists because I want people to view massage as health care and not a luxury serice. Everyone deserves to feel relaxed.
How did you get started in this business?
A few years ago I was in a nursing program. I took some nursing courses and was so conflicted with some of the information I was reading. I am so passionate about holistic health care and genuinely healing the body, not just bandaiding a symptom. In the nursing field nothing I personally wanted to practice for my patients would have been allowed. I dropped out of nursing school and enrolled into massage therapy. As I did more research I found out how beneficial to the body massage is.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of customers. Body sizes extra large to extra small, ages young to old. I want to help all. Health issues such as cerebral palsy, fibromyalgia, high B.P, diabetes, scoliosis, mental health patients, prenatal women, etc.
