What will my first session be like?
I request that you complete the online intake form regarding your medical history, past or present injuries or other physical conditions that I should be aware of prior to your massage. It helps me best prepare for your session, ahead of time. Also, it won't eat up your session time.
Arrive 5-10 minutes early, so we can review of your intake form and discuss your information, including current conditions that might affect treatment, or if there is a specific area or issue that I should address. Together, we will decide how the session will go.
After our consultation, I will leave the room to wash my hands while you undress to your comfort level. I am happy to (and perfectly able to) work through light clothing. This is your session, and you should feel at ease. During your session, only the area of your body being worked on will be undraped. I will knock on the door before I enter.
I will ask you for feedback just a couple times, during the massage, so that we can adjust techniques or pressure to your level of comfort. You are always in control, and you may stop the massage at any time, for any reason.
After your massage, I will leave the room to wash up while you dress. Once you're ready, I will re-enter the room. We will discuss anything I noticed (muscle tension, range of motion, etc.), and I will ask you to share what you experienced and ask for feedback on what needs to be changed for the next session. At this time, the session fee is due and your next appointment is booked.
Cancellations/Rescheduling:
By booking an appointment, you agree to the following terms set by South Jersey Massage and Pain Relief:
If you are not able to make a scheduled appointment, you agreed to cancel or reschedule the appointment at least 24 hours in advance. You agreed to pay 50% of the full session rate if you give less than 24 hours notice.
You agree to pay the full session rate if you give 2 hours notice or less, when rescheduling or cancelling, or if you completely miss an appointment without giving notice.
If, within 24 hours of my session, you develop a contagious illness, or have a sudden, unplanned health or personal emergency rendering you unable to make my appointment, you will inform South Jersey Massage and Pain Relief by phone, right away, and if I, the therapist, are unable to fill your vacancy, you will pay the cancellation fee, or session fee (if less than 2 hours notice), unless an exception is granted, only at the discretion of South Jersey Massage and Pain Relief.
You understand that you are still responsible for your appointment until you hear back from South Jersey Massage and Pain Relief confirming they received your phone call requesting cancellation/rescheduling.
You understand that you must arrive 10 minutes early for any appointment in order to get the full session time you have scheduled. If you arrive on time, or late, you understand the therapist can only give you whatever time remains of your appointment, and that you will pay for the full length of the session that you booked.
Further, you understand that massage therapy is entirely therapeutic and professional in nature.

Are there times when I shouldn't have a massage?
It's not a good idea to schedule a massage appointment if you are experiencing any of the following:
You are sick. Even just a cold.
You have a fever.
You were recently involved in an accident or have acute pain (sharp pain with sudden onset within 24 hours of your appointment).
You are dizzy or nauseated.
You are bruised or have wounds, rashes, or severe sunburn.
If you have any concerns please feel free to contact me before your appointment to discuss them. Sometimes things that may seem small can be irritated by a bodywork session.
