Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New customers must make an appointment, fill out an in-take form, and come to my clinic in Springfield, MO.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a Board Certified, Licensed Massage Therapist, certified in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy and Advanced Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Movement Science. I'm a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is $50 for 30 minutes, $75 for an hour, $100 for 90 minutes. I do offer student discounts and price breaks for low income patients.
How did you get started in this business?
I've been a massage therapist since 2008, I started Valence Massage in 2012 because Springfield lacked skilled neuromuscular massage therapy.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I specialize in science-based massage therapy with a special focus on treating pain, stress, and anxiety. I work with people of all ages and cultures.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Insist on professionalism, particularly quality education and licensure. Massage therapy is often coupled with pseudoscientific ideas, and includes areas far outside the scope of practice. If you see a massage therapist and they try to sell you essential oils, supplements, or CBD creams, they are not focused on perfecting their skills.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What are the goals of the massage? What would a successful massage produce for you? Are you committed to using massage as a part of your healthy lifestyle, or is this just a one-off treat?
