Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New customers must make an appointment, fill out an in-take form, and come to my clinic in Springfield, MO. From there, we will have an interview and evaluation to design the optimum therapy options.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Board Certified, Licensed Massage Therapist, certified in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy and Advanced Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy. I'm a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is $60 for 30 minutes, $90 for an hour, $120 for 90 minutes. I do offer student discounts and price breaks for low income patients.
How did you get started in this business?
I've been a massage therapist since 2008, I started Valence Massage in 2012 because Springfield lacked skilled neuromuscular massage therapy. I became a physical therapist in 2023 when I completed my doctoral studies.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I specialize in science-based massage therapy with a special focus on treating pain, stress, and anxiety. I work with people of all ages and cultures.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Insist on professionalism, particularly quality education and licensure. As a PT, I am obligated to practice evidence based medicine, and I take that responsibility seriously. A skilled therapist will not try to sell you magic cures, essential oils, supplements, or CBD creams; they are instead focused on perfecting their clinical and manual therapy skills.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What are your goals for therapy? What would successful therapy produce for you? Are you committed to engaging in the process as a part of your healthy lifestyle, or is this just a one-off treat for yourself?
