How did you get started in this business?
I have been doing massage since I was 5 years old on my grandfather. I have always had sensitive hands that can feel where issues may be store. Back than there was no such thing as massage therapy schools until the mid 80's. Once I learned of accredited schools I jumped aboard knowing this is how I was able to help others.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked on infants, youth that are into sports since coaches do not spend a lot of time discussing stretching, geriatrics, post surgery, athletes, people who sit long hours at work. I can help those who want to heal and live a active lifestyle.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
There are 2 events: I also have clients with cancer and once they receive a massage how better they feel and sleep.
I just did a group of ladies who get together every year for a scrapbooking party for the weekend. I invited another therapist to join me to work on 12 ladies for the day. They were so appreciative to take a break to release stress or just to relax for a massage. A great group of ladies and a fun time
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a company in your area of expertise?
Be sure to ask questions. I have heard this over 25 years of being in practice how dissatisfied clients are because they have gone to a spa setting or franchise and dis not get what they wanted. Most of these companies are hiring people right out of school and they are learning there craft. They are not paid a lot but need to practice to learn. So who ever you choose be sure to,ask for specific questions. All therapist are different. We have different touch, education etc..... However, if you want lite touch (swedish) some therapists have a difficult time adjusting touch to suit you as they may be more into Deep Tissue. Etc.....
What questions should customers think through before talking to companies about their needs?
There are so many types of massage. What pressure are you looking for?
What do they specialize in any specific type of massage.?
Education?
Do you prefer a male or female therapist?
Are they equipped to handle your specific needs with massage therapy?
