Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to speak with potential clients on the phone, prior to setting up an appointment to determine the clients needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a licensed massage therapist completely my general coursework at Lansing Community College. Specialized training in Structural Energetic Therapy has taken place in Florida and is the equivalent of Masters level training. I also have training in Orthopedic Massage, kinesiotaping, Acupressure and Reiki.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Structural Energetic Therapy sessions cost $135 and average two hours in length.
General massage costs $70 for 60 minutes and $100 for 90 minutes.
How did you get started in this business?
I began massage by doing an apprenticeship twenty years ago. I used the learned techniques on my family members and on athletes I had the pleasure of coaching. In 2010, I moved to the Lansing area following a lengthy illness. I began offering services the following year.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My clients have varied from age 7 to age 94. I have worked with many amateur, collegiate and professional athletes as well as many desk jockeys. There is no typical client but I prefer working with those in pain seeking pain relief.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Always make sure that any massage therapist you go to is licensed thru the State of Michigan and carries liability insurance. Look for a therapist who has specialized training beyond massage school and one who listens to your needs and does not just give a standard cookie cutter type massage.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Clients should be able to articulate what they are looking to achieve through massage. Be ready to discuss any medical issues you have and medications you are taking.
