Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I add 15 min to our first massage session so we can talk about health concerns and goals for both our current session and continuing therapy. During a massage session, if the client is amenable, I like to sometimes explain what I'm doing and why and quiz the client on daily activities so that we can pinpoint possible causes for an issue and discuss self-care options to help clients make lifestyle changes that can aid in recovery and prevent recurrence of symptoms.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's Degree in Medical Anthropology from the University of Tennessee, did my basic studies in massage at Blue Cliff College (~750 hrs), studied multiple advanced modalities and received certifications in medical/clinical massage from the Advanced Massage Training Center of New Orleans (~450 hrs). Twelve years of experience, Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy License #8009 (formerly #4207).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Regardless of the service, I follow the following pricing schedule:
30 min - TMJ Work ONLY - $55
60 min - $75
75 min - $95
90 min - $110
120 min - $140
I can also be hired on an outcall basis for chair massage for your event or office wellness services. $100 for the first hour, $70 for every hour thereafter, minimum 3 hours, maximum 5 hours. Please inquire via email.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my customers have repetitive motion or postural issues that start affecting their work. Many of my clients are dancers, performers, musicians, bartenders, artists, and tattooists, and these activities all place special stressors on the body that over time begin to impact function and performance. I help people keep doing the things they love or need to do.
