Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
You'll fill out an intake form, and we'll discuss what you are looking to get out of your session today and going forward. I will leave the room, so you may undress and lie on the massage table under the top sheet. I will knock and re-enter, and the massage session begins.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended Deep Muscle Therapy School in 2004, becoming certified as a massage technician in December 2004. I graduated in February 2005, and then passed the national exam and became fully licensed in June 2005. I have since taken many seminars and workshops in various techniques. I became Certified in Advanced Myofascial Techniques (CAMT) in 2011, and a Certified Medical Massage Practitioner (CMMP) in 2015. I also have taught massage for a total of about 5 years since then at Dawn Career Institute.
How did you get started in this business?
This is a second career for me in mid-life, after spending 20+ years doing cash management mostly for banks.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Men, women, and children. Some are simply wanting a good relaxation massage, some have serious medical issues, and some are athletes or weekend workout warriors.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Ask questions, so you get what you are seeking. And give feedback - we are not mind-readers, and we need to know what you are feeling so we can make sure your massage session fills your expectations. But if you should fall asleep during a great Swedish massage, know that that is completely normal and it's a good thing! (That is feedback in and of itself.)
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What made you seek out a massage appointment, and what you are looking to get out of your massage session.
