About

I graduated in 2003 from Applied Kinesthetic Studies Massage Therapy School in Virginia, following a rigorous and holistic program. I became a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist by the NCBTMB that year, and opened my massage therapy company, Butterfly Bodyworks. Soon after, I studied Thai Massage and held an apprenticeship with therapist Kim Brooks. For many years, I offered Thai Massage sessions as a separate modality, in addition to intuitive massage therapy on the table. I took courses in pregnancy massage, and have a certificate in Prenatal/Pregnancy Massage. I have offered sessions to many women during pregnancy and soon after birth. I am a mother of two, so I have a first-hand perspective of the phases of the body during pregnancy. I’ve taken classes and workshops in a wide variety of other bodywork modalities, and I incorporate all of them into my intuitive massage therapy sessions.

I take inspiration from the natural world and the great spirit that runs through all things. My approach could be described as one part training, one part intuition, one part science, and one part knowledge. I seek to help clients along on a journey toward their highest selves. I believe that there is a healed, relaxed, fully-expressed being within each one of us. We can heal from past trauma, we can manage and overcome our chronic pain, and we can learn to feel alive in our own skin. When each of us free up healthy spaces within ourselves, and find the fullness and richness of our own unique expression, we can learn to walk the path of authenticity.

Inclusion Pledge – I celebrate differences, from the LGBTQIA+ community, to multiculturalism, to neurodivergence, to people with seen and unseen disabilities, to people with Black and Brown identities. In my massage business and my life I welcome diversity in all its wonderful forms.

Environmentalism Pledge – During my many years of offering bodywork, I’ve sought to protect the environment. I’m committed to the highest possible standards of environmentalism in my massage business. My oils are organic, plant-based oils which are locally sourced when possible. Massage sheets are washed using eco-friendly detergents and water conservation methods. My massage table and massage chair are from the Earthlite company, with wood from responsibly-managed forests and eco-friendly glues and lacquers. When I conduct house calls, my transportation is in an electric vehicle.

If you would like to receive a session from me at Butterfly Bodyworks, please schedule a session and we’ll get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

Kat
