Since 2009, I have enjoyed serving the community with a focus on strength and health through bodywork. I believe that massage therapy is a critical component to healing, and with years of experience as an athlete and athletic trainer, I have a personal perspective on its amazing benefits. I hope to share this knowledge with you, and together we will work to identify and address the issues leading to your discomfort.

    Purchased a Yelp Deal
As a runner, its great to have someone like Maury who speaks my language. My body was breaking down from running and Maury was there to point out what was going on.
Highly recommend to others who are preparing to run or after a half, full or tri.

I had a great experience with Maury. I was traveling this past week and developed a major muscle pain in my back. On a whim, I checked yelp looking for a serious muscle guru in the mission (where I was while on a break from a work meeting) and found Maury. This was actually my first massage session ever! She asked many questions about my lifestyle and overall health and gave me a heads up on how she would be working through my problem with me. The massage was intense, targeted and very helpful. She also gave me some good practical tips related to my body so I could work through some consistent issues and problem areas.
    Thanks Maury!!

Maury was awesome today. I called her because Id thrown out my back, and she offered a same-day appointment. She was fantastically knowledgeable about back issues, and brings a wealth of scientific and medical knowledge to her practice. She not only knows the anatomy and physiology of bodies, but is very knowledge about body mechanics and their intersections with sports and how people can throw their bodies out of whack. Im so impressed -- I wish I could give more than five stars!

Simply put, Maury is a phenomenal massage therapist who deeply understands the bodies and psyches of athletes (and us former athletes who mess ourselves up by sitting at desks all day...)
Shes like a cross between a physical therapist, coach/trainer, and Professor of Kinesiology, all wrapped together with an intuitive touch and lovely personality.
I first got a massage from Maury after another massage therapist messed up my back, leaving me unable to fall asleep from the pain. Maury worked through the inflammation and taught me how to recognize when a deep massage starts getting TOO deep. (Is this a problem for anyone else? Like, where its hard to tell if its a good hurt or a bad hurt during a massage?) Even when I see other massage therapists, I use a trick that Maury taught me to give me the confidence to ask for the therapist to decrease their pressure (or to ask for more while being mindful of my limit.)
Maury is great for a relaxing massage, but really shines if you are trying to get the most out of your body. As an athlete herself (ran track, was in the Army, still plays soccer in a competitive league), she just totally understands the crazy stuff people push themselves to do and knows how to nurse you back to health -- and, probably more importantly, how to help you avoid injuries in the first place. For example, I was telling Maury that I had started getting into running again, and I couldnt understand why my lower back was hurting. She watched me run a bit and then gave me a few pointers that have totally erased the back pain -- and increased my ab definition :)
In short, Maury is a baller. Highly recommend!

    Frequently asked questions

I like to have a quick call to get a sense of what the client is looking for and then we find a good tine and date to meet.

I have a degree in biology and have worked with training surgeons to use surgical robotic tools. I was a college track athlete and trained injured soldiers in the army. I have been working as a sports massage therapist since 2009.

I typically work with athletes who are dealing with an injury. I also am trained in pre peri and post natal massage so I tend to work with clients who have a specific goal for their session but I’m also happy to help you with a tune up:)

it’s very helpful when clients have an understanding of what brings them in for a massage session. Are they dealing with a specific pain or injury. It is also very helpful to communicate through the session to ensure you are getting exactly what you need.
