About

I have excellent rapport building skills, a wealth of knowledge about many aspects of healthcare including herbs, nutrition, acupressure and qigong. I’m attentive and attune to your specific needs. I’ve been a full time massage therapist since 1990. I have taught acupressure in a classroom setting at Arizona School of Massage Therapy and have lead workshops in Quantum Touch. From 2002-2007 I was on a panel of holistic health professionals who were invited biannually to speak to ASU nursing students about integrative health practices. My primary location is within a chiropractic setting. I also travel to do in-home massage. I still love my work and am grateful for the connection I have with my clients. I have added to my repertoire of skills over the years. In addition to therapeutic massage I specialize in cupping techniques, a Japanese form of acupressure called Jin Shin Jyutsu, quantum touch, and myofascial release. I have a specialized cushion for pregnancy massage that makes all the difference for prenatal massage

“My approach to massage combines an intuitive sensitivity with a soothing flowing style. I use a variety of powerful personalized techniques to problem solve pain in the body. The primary goal is to find and release restrictions, restore mobility and decrease discomfort. Relaxing massage techniques are also used to calm the nervous system and relieve tension.”

I'm grateful every time someone leaves my office feeling better than when they came in. Many of my clients I've had the privilege of getting to know well over the course of several years.

I'm an active person and enjoy staying in good shape to keep performing at my best. Taking good care of myself is foundational to helping others.

Deborah is a caring professional and expert therapist. She listened to my description of my back/hip issues and then helped to alleviate my sciatic pain and lower back issues in our session. I will certainly book her again and I highly recommend her for massage therapy.

    Frequently asked questions

Please arrive 10 minutes early to fill in a brief intake form, followed by an interview and sometimes visual assessment of postural holding patterns that may need to be addressed. I'll ask you about any previous surgeries, accidents or injuries that may be contributing to discomfort. Please let me know if there's a particular area that needs the most focus, or you may prefer an overall, deeply relaxing massage session.

At my office it’s $75 for one hour and $115 for 90 minutes.

For your location an additional $20 will be charged if it’s within 12 miles.

I’ve always enjoyed working with people on a one to one basis and believe in the body’s ability to heal itself with a minimum of intervention in many cases.
I graduated from Phoenix Therapeutic Massage College in 1990
For the first four years  I worked with chiropractors, osteopaths, and physical therapists, treating many people with auto accident and industrial injuries.

In 1994, I established my own current practice, Back In Balance

People with all types of injuries, disabilities, and pain syndromes.

Being with a group of people who’s focus is bringing peace to individuals as a way of establishing a more harmonious world.

I would suggest finding someone who has at least five years of experience.  Many therapists who work in commercial chains or doctors offices experience burn out and don't have the time or flexibility in company policies to give you their best. Those who work for themselves must exhibit professionalism and a high degree of technical and communication skill to be successful. Check education, references/reviews, and location.  A professional office setting is a big plus.
You can never really know if you’ve found the right therapist for you until you give them a try.

Has this therapist worked successfully with other people who have a similar condition to mine?

What technique(s)have they found to be most useful?

How many treatments can I reasonably expect to commit to if I wish to function at my best?

What might be expected of me to facilitate the process of healing?
