About

Being the only mental health music therapist in north Alabama, and the only Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) therapist in the state-- it gives me a lot of satisfaction to offer this approach to mental health care to my community. In my experience, music offers people another way to express and experience their emotions. Sometimes a song says it better than we can!

I'm excited to see how music can change the lives of my clients in ways they never expected! Even though I've been a music therapist for 25+ years, I'm still amazed at how powerful music can be in helping people.

    Frequently asked questions

The first session involves completing and going over the intake paperwork and getting to know each other a little bit.  We discuss goals for the therapy process.  Beginning in the 2nd session, we get into using music regularly.  Sometimes that's listening to music, creating playlists to use as a coping technique for between sessions, or playing music together with instruments I have in the office.  Music therapy isn't a cookie cutter approach to mental health care-- it's tailored to each individual client's needs and goals.
