What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The purpose for seeking counseling is established in the initial session. The initial sessioin's format is driven by what the client shares, what she or he feels is appropriate to share.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Liberal Arts. I have a master's degree in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M Internatioinal University in Laredo. I have additional hours in psychology for board licensure. I am licensed by the Texas State Board as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
I was a Special Education teacher for 10 years, five of which were for High School students with learning and behavioral problems. The remaining five years were as a Special Education teacher for adult men who were incarcerated.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I take most insurance companies, including private and Medicaid. A sliding scale is used when cash is the only option.
How did you get started in this business?
I had planned to be a school counselor. But, I found I had more of a connection with adults and issues related to those experienced by adults.
