Smith Psychotherapy Associates, S.C. is a small family owned private group practice. We will listen to you and help you come up with the best plan of action of how to move forward in helping you manage your circumstances. We pride ourselves in responding to client's calls throughout the day so there is little wait time for a response. We have a highly professional and confidential office, with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Our staff include three licensed clinical social workers and a licensed clinical psychologist. We understand that making the first step in contacting us is often quite stressful. We will treat you with sensitivity and respect and will validate your feelings about the issues you face. Our goal is to help you with your concerns in a timely solution-oriented way. If you chose to use health insurance, we can help you understand your benefits, bill insurance for you, and then you will be responsible for any uncovered costs. We accept cash, check, and debit/credit cards for payment.
We enjoy watching people emotionally grow and learn how to manage and cope with the most stressful of times. We will collaborate with you and together we can address your issues and concerns. You often have unknown strengths and abilities within yourself to deal with even the most challenging of circumstances. It is so very nice to plant seeds in a rich soil and watch those seeds grow into bright colorful fresh smelling flowers. It is from that place that we find joy in the work that we do with you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We discuss what you want help with and whether we can offer those services. We schedule an appointment, and then we establish a means of payment. What we discuss follows clinical ethics and is confidential under federal, state, and local laws.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We all have either a MSW degree in clinical social work or a PhD in clinical psychology. We are licensed in the State of Illinois and hold additional specialty certifications.

How did you get started in this business?
After 20 years of clinical, teaching, and managerial work in hospital mental health and addictions programs, I decided to go into private practice.

People of all ages experiencing mental health, health concerns, trauma, addictions, pain, and sleeping problems.
