About

For nearly a decade, I've worked with teenagers and adults to help them overcome emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. I have a keen understanding of the demands on today's adolescents and young adults to succeed academically, socially, and in the workplace. My goal is to support you in developing necessary skills and resources as you pursue personal, career, and academic success. When school or job performance is a concern, my focus is the integration of mental health issues with these needs, two aspects of a person's life that are rarely addressed simultaneously or understood as interdependent.

My approach is active and directive, a level of engagement my clients appreciate. I want you to achieve early results, so you'll experience positive change and gain confidence in your continued improvement. As therapy continues, you'll acquire concrete skills you can apply in all areas of your life.

I've learned people make the most gains in therapy and achieve lasting improvement in surroundings that are most comfortable for them. That's why I strive to meet at the most convenient location for you, whether in your home, on campus, or at a local library or coffee shop.

I understand the stressors teens and young adults experience in today's pressure-packed society. There are the demands of having to perform so they can compete academically and in their future work lives. While technology helps them connect to their peers in some ways, it can also result in social and emotional disengagement. Many, whether aware or not, develop a dependence on their devices, trying to maintain social connection and avoid “missing anything.” Friendships, family matters, and life events further contribute to the challenges they face. Meanwhile, there are lives to lead and goals to achieve.

We all want to have the skills and resources we need to lead happy and productive lives. My goal is to support teens and young adults in their pursuit of personal, academic, and career success.

I am a clinical social worker. I hold an LICSW license in Washington, DC.

The most important factor by far in the success of therapy is who your therapist is in terms of how well you connect with them. You may find it hard to find someone in-network who is a good fit for you, but it’s really important you keep looking until you find that fit. So I always tell people they should walk out of a first session with me or any other therapist feeling really good about the experience and confident about their choice. Otherwise they should move on.
