About

I've been working in mental health for over 20 years. I have a MA Philosophy, BA in Psychology, and LAADC certification. Looking to help remotely or one-on-one in an outdoor setting. Lets get out there!

I simply love meeting new people and getting them to refocus on what's good about themselves.

Frequently asked questions

It's not easy for us human beings to be honest about our problems, and when we're not, its easy for us to let them bring us down. So, first an foremost I want my client to know they're ok, and to try and give themselves a break. Everybody has issues. Then, I try to help them identify what aspects of their character or personality isn't serving them well and really still down on those specific things. Rather than just talk about what's going on. Ultimately, I want my clients to conceptualize a general direction for their near future, like the next year or so. The following sessions will consist of creating a road map of sorts to guide them and help them find support on their journey in this new direction.

I taught for LA unified school district straight out of college. I come from a family of educators and therapists. I have a MA in Humanities with focus on philosophy. I dd my masters Thesis on a particular approach to addictions treatment. I was one of the first people to be certified by the State of California as a drug counselor almost 15 years ago. I've worked in the recovery and mental health field for over 15 years.

My State certificaiton allows me to bill insurance so there's kind of a set rate there, I'm flexible though.  I prefer the flexibility of cash pay.

I have my own recovery story, got sober when I was 27 after a DUI, been on the Path ever since. I'm 49 now.

Addicts, alcoholics, dual-diangnosis, bi-polar, anxious, gamblers, sex addicts...pretty much all populations. I love them all.

Mental health is a tough field. The "wins" are few and far between. The losses are unforgetable. Recently I went surfing with a former client. I had watched him come and go through treatment, but he pulled it out. He even works in the field now. I just feel so blessed he made it.

It's tricky, we never really know how we impact other people. Be weary of know-it-alls who have an answer for everyting. Be weary of counselors who don't challenge you. There's an old saying in recovery, "With conflicdt comes growth." Conversly, if you're not getting a good vibe from you counselor it might be a waste of time.

What do I have to lose? Why wouldn't I want professional help? Do I want unprofessional help?
