About

Strength Hope Resiliency Positivity Gratitude Healing

These are key concepts that I highlight in my work as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been working over 15 years as a clinician with people from age 14 to 90 and their families. The issues brought to me most often include substance use disorder, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, grief and loss and difficulties in relationships. My approach is one of collaboration and a compassionate attitude toward the person to develop a good rapport and a mutual understanding of the goals for treatment. My techniques are tailored to the person and are designed to support growth through increasing insight into how thoughts, language and behavior are perhaps out of alignment with how they see themselves. This incongruence can often be a source of suffering and can fuel unhealthy behaviors (i.e. substance abuse, anger issues) as a way of managing the misaligned self. I teach mindfulness skills to alleviate anxiety and depression. I bring creative approaches to the work such as art therapy or journaling (no worries you need not be an artist or a writer to benefit from this process). I work with sensitivity and awareness of your comfort and safety to uncover unresolved loss or past trauma, identify limiting beliefs learned from childhood experiences and examine patterns of interaction that may be blocking you from living your best life and interfering in your relationships. Our work may include family members or other important people with whom you are connected, either in person or through means such as role play, letter writing or visualization exercise.

This is an Integrative Therapeutic Approach that utilizes cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and positive psychology to be your authentic self and release any emotional suffering you may have. I consider myself to be a compassionate witness, a guide who will walk beside you on your journey and help you recognize your strengths and learn how to have a healthier more satisfying relationship with yourself and thereby with others in your life.

I enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds and have worked with clients from all over the world. I welcome LGBTQ individuals.

When I see someone have that "aha moment" and they really begin to shift their thoughts or behavior or they have a release from emotional pain, I feel priveleged to do this work.
