About

I specialize in helping individuals and couples learn to listen without judgment, sometimes call Nov-Violent Communication (NVC) which is valuable even if you are coming to counseling without a partner. In addition to that, and relieving trauma with EMDR, I have over 40 years experience in counseling and psycgology and have worked on just about everything that anyone needs working on. Most important is giving counselees new ways to look at things so they see their strengths and learn how to work around their weaknesses. Change your thinking and change your life.

Helping people find their own power, claim it, and use it to the betterment of their lives and the lives of people with whom they interact. I have been working in counseling, industrial and organizational cousulting, substance use disorder treatment, and both inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment for vore than forty years, and I have helped a lot of people improve their lives in those years. I enjoy that.

    Frequently asked questions

First, I listen to what you expect to accomplsh in counseling.  From there, we start a treatment plan and begin working.

I have a masters degree in counseling and a maters degree in psychology, more than 40 years' experience, and I have been trained in most therepy techniques including EMDR, MI, CBT,  and, very early in my career, even psychoanalysis.

I charge $100 per hour; no insurance.  Can use a sliding scale.

After graduating from college with a degree in pshchology, I went to graduate scool and got my coulseling masters' degree, did my internship at the Georgia Mental Health Institute, an impatient pshychiatric hospital, and kept on going.  That includes getting a another masters' degree, that one in industiral and organizational pshchology, and I added industrial psyhchology consulting to my counseling skills.  I retired twice and found that I'd rather be counseling that playing golf, so I maintain a limited practice.

Adults and late adolescents.  I have worked with people on improving self-esteem, learning listening and communication skills, alleviating depression, overcomming trauma, setting goals, and changing their behaviors and attitudes in dirctions they desire.  I have also worked as an industrial and organizational psyhchologist.

I helped a woman and her adult son, who had not spoken to each other in ten years, learn to listen to each outher without judging (mostly), the Non-Violent Model of Communiucation (NVC), re-establish contact with each other and begin to work through some of their hurts with each other.

Make sure they help you understand what you want to accomplish in therapy before you begin.

What do I want to get out of this counseling, and then, with the counselor's help as necessary, learn how to tell the therapist what I want and need instead of just stuffing it.
