PROJECT IMPACT COUNSELING, LLC
About
Hello, my name is Carol "Sue" Kimbro, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with clients from different STATES AND COUNTRIES! If you are reading my bio, you are looking for someone to help you with a problem or struggle you are having and it is important to find a counselor that you can relate to, someone that is easy to talk to, and someone that you can make a personal connection with, so please read on because I think you have found that person! I am very compassionate, easy to talk to and very caring. I work "flexible" hours and usually can fit you in when you need to be seen, even if there is no opening on my schedule! But please finish reading the rest of my bio.... maybe you have had the problem for a long time and kept thinking it would just go away on its own, or the struggle has become so intense you have decided you need help. I have worked in the mental health field for over 16 years, and I think I can help, or I will certainly try!
I am a first-generation college graduate, which I am extremely proud of because it was exceedingly difficult to start college with two small children. I am remarried and now those two children are now grown, my oldest son is Gay, and my youngest son was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome when he was five years old. I made the decision to go into the field of counseling, because I grew up in a very chaotic, and mentally/physically abusive home, where my siblings and I were the targets, where abuse was handed out almost daily. Therefore, I married two different abusive men, and had to leave both due to domestic violence. Furthermore, I have experienced a lot of personal loss and grief, my mother and brother both passed at the age of 57, and my father at 59 all from respiratory diseases, my mom from COPD and dad and brother lung cancer. I have also lost two sisters, one at infancy and the other due to long term drug and alcohol abuse.
As a professional counselor I have worked with individuals as young as 5 years and as old as 80. My experience has included hardships such as being a single parent, grief and loss, coping with life challenges, depression, LGBTQ, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), coping skills, self-confidence, motivation and goal setting, communication problems, anxiety, panic attacks, bi-polar disorder, obsessive compulsive behaviors, domestic violence, anger management issues, parenting issues, parenting with children with disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and of course, relationship issues and challenges, self-esteem, women's issues, Previously I worked in Post-Secondary Education as a Career Counselor, and I have been an advocate for women in domestic violence relationships and for children with disabilities. My counseling modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused, Mindfulness, (ACT) Acceptance and Commitment, Solution Focused Therapy, Compassion Focused, Person Centered, Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Family Systems, Reality Therapy and Women’s Issues.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Clients need to email me at : [email protected] or text me at 405-620-5785. After contact, we will meet to complete paperwork, Insurance verification and schedule therapy time and place.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master Of Science degree in Human Resource Counseling, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have more than 17 years experience with individuals ages 3 -70
How did you get started in this business?
I started out as an education counselor at East Central University in the Educational Opportunity Center. The EOC is a grant funded program to assist adults in enter or reentering postsecondary education. I found that I loved assisting people with all aspects of education and acquiring housing and other daily and emotional needs. I decided that I could make a greater impact in mental health and so I decided to pursue my license as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor).
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with a various range of individuals from the very young (age 3 years) to older adults (age 68). I have worked with people who have been struggling with a variety of issues: Bipolar Disorders, Major Depressive Disorders, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Stress, Anger Management Issues, ADHD, Communication Issues, Autism Spectrum (Asperger's), LGBTQ Issues, Grief and Loss, Self-esteem, Self-confidence, Domestic Violence, Coping Skills and PTSD.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I think it is important to find a professional that has experience in the field, but more importantly someone you feel comfortable with. I have found that many of my clients have chosen my services because of my background and my own history of being a survivor of domestic violence and childhood abuse.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
I think it is important to know what problems the client wants to specifically work on. What their therapy goals are and their timeline. Then the client and therapist can come together to develop an action plan (treatment plan) that is realistic for the client.
