I am a licensed professional counselor with experience prior to this as a school counselor and director of guidance in the Houston Independent School District. I have worked successfully in areas of teen counseling, women's counseling, career counseling and couples counseling and have officed in three locations in the Houston area over my career in private practice. I am experienced in areas of depression and anxiety, women's issues, couples issues, trauma resolution and career transitions. I have a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling from the University of Houston and maintain my certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor with annual training for licensure updates. I am a client-centered counselor, and I specialize in short=term therapy whenever possible, and I will not hesitate to refer any client for whom I may have less experience that they will need for healing. My practice in this area has been for the past 12 years, but prior to that I had offices in two other areas around Houston for a total of 14 additional years, not counting my school experience.You will find me to be an open, welcoming person with a positive attitude for resolving issues with warm supportive therapy.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Schedule an appointment for an evaluation and introduction. At this time, documents about personal information can be completed and we can both evaluate the comfort level of working together. They explain their issues and goals if they have formulated them. I explain my methods and we talk about cost and how oftem we will work together. We set another appointment unless one or both of us finds the working relationship would require a referral to another specialist.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's Degree in Counseling, and a current certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I was a counselor in the schools and director of counseling and guidance in the Houston Independent School District for over 30 years. Since then I have had a private practice for approximately 20 years. I work with teens, women, men, couples and do group or individual counseling.
