Carolee J Horning Counseling, LLC
About
I understand the power of trauma and how it can destroy you, overtaking your mind and your body. It’s a wound that changes a person. Especially if you don’t let it out. It finds a way. The trauma can overpower you and take control. But it doesn’t have to! You can get your power back. You can become “unbroken.”
Your story is a gift that I will honor. Safety and confidentiality are sacred to me. I’m a down to earth therapist that will listen to you without judgment, and together we will find your healing path. You may never be who you once were before the trauma, but by sharing your story and learning tools to decrease the disturbing memories and pain, you can become whole.
I love helping others find their own healing path, seeing the hope on their faces, and watching them succeed in life. Watching a client go from surviving to thriving is such a gift!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The client contacts me for counseling services. We have a phone consultation to see if it's a good fit. I then email intake paperwork for them to fill out before we meet for the first time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwest Christian University.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
No insurance at this time. I have a sliding fee scale $50 to $75.
How did you get started in this business?
Before opening my own private practice I worked for a non-profit and serving as a crisis worker in the hospital emergency department. Prior to my education, I had a great counselor that personally saved my life.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Clients with PTSD, trauma, sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, anger, and co-dependency primarily.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I co-facilitated a women's trauma group and one of my clients wrote a letter to our executive director at the non-profit where I work explaining how the tools she learned in the group changed her life. She now has a job, more confidence, and is planning on getting her own apartment.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Your therapist should treat your story with honor. It's a gift. Confidentiality and trust should be sacred, and the partnership should be one of unconditional positive regard, safe, and judgment free.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
As a client seeking a counselor, ask yourself what you are truly looking for. Find a counselor that meets your needs. As the client, you are the boss, you do the work. Find a safe space and counselor to travel that journey with you.
