With humble beginnings at American Red Cross in the field of human services she has provided various responsibilities enabling a holistic, client centered approach in meeting her clients where they are , and overcoming barriers in many forms. Her direct counseling role provided exposure to various diagnosis ranging from Schizophrenia, Bipolar l & ll, Major Depressive Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder to General Anxiety Disorder. For the past 3 years she has engaged in Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) within correctional institutions, medicated assistance programs and community mental health organizations by facilitating both group and individual counseling using her preference of therapeutic intervention styles based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) , Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Mindfulness treating both mental health and addiction. She has in depth knowledge of 12-Step programs AA/NA/CA and knowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). Her goal has remained the same, "To restore faith and hope holistically in order to resume healthy and satisfying lives".
I've had the pleasure of working in various settings from community mental health, families living with trauma, addiciton and mental health, incarcerated individuals to those living with opiate dependence. What makes providing services to those in need enjoyable? It is lettimng them know life isn't a race, believing in their abilities and working towards instilling hope back into their lives. Encouraging to find direction by identifying goals, and developing effective coping skills and strategies to overcome barriers, while utilizing resources and support resulting in self-care.
