About

Sliding Scale Individual and Group Therapeutic Opportunities for those living with mood, psychiatric, neurobehavioral, and chronic conditions (including chronic illness) PLUS developmental psych support for parents and those planning on becoming parents. *Insurance accepted via Taos Behavioral Health, and other referal agencies such as Rio Grande Counseling and Guidance (UNM area of ABQ). Sliding scale self-pay and pro-bono services provided by partner clinicians in ABQ.

My journey as a "Helper" (with master level work in developmental disorders / doctoral level work in severe psychiatric, mood, trauma recovery, and neurobehavioral conditions) - being that 'helper' in other people's lives is a privilege in my opinion. Partner clinicians at Taos Behavioral Health and referal agencies such as at RGCGC share a similar ethic. We all have an obligation to 'give' the best of ourselves in some form. Being a "Helper" with decades of education, experience, and dedication... it's what I do because it is family tradition / culture - we do for and with others as a rule in my family. I am also a veteran educator at the k-12 and University level - I currently teach 5 university level courses in psychology topics in the hopes of training new clinicians for a journey of 'helping' others.

Frequently asked questions

If a new client is interested in individual or group / class opportunities, we invite them to take a meeting with one of our partner clinicians who specializes in the client's self-identified challenges/condition(s). Sliding scale & pro-bono services are held at our offices and Community Center, and insured services are held at our ABQ hub for Taos Behavioral Health and referral agencies (if TBH does not take a particular insurance). Intakes are handled individually per clinician / location. If medical intervention is desired (such as medication management or medication assisted addiction recovery), the client is referred directly to prescribing providers or RGCGS 505-246-8700 for intake.

All partner/colleague clinicians are licensed at the minimum master level training requirement, with several other clinicians who are licensed at the doctoral and medical level training requirement.

Sliding-scale and pro-bono services are provided via Piggy's Squeakeasy Community Art & Education Space and full-pay/self-pay and insured services are provided via Taos Behavioral Health (ABQ Hub) and other referal agencies in Albuquerque.

Family Tradition. Generations of "helpers" (teachers, doctors, therapists, and disability advocates) are part of the story to many if not most of us partner clinicians.

General Support Clients, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, Severe Psychiatric Conditions, Neurobehavioral Challenges (Autism, Dual-Diagnosis NRO/Psychiatric challenges, etc.), Parenting / Family Support, Couples, and Terminally Ill (and support for their family members).

Working with trauma survivors using artistic methods is always an opportunity to grow for everyone in the room. Utilizing creative expression frees up the mind to see life  'NOW' versus being held hostage by the past. Not all folks are interested in including artistic methods, but it sure is fun for us clinicians when that method is welcomed by the client.

Go with your 'Gut' - if the process does not 'feel right' - then chances are, the fit may not be happening. Conversely - pay attention to 'feeling uncomfortable' - it may also be a sign that you are 'growing' - give the therapist a couple of chances before moving on to another option. Clarity takes time.

If philosophy / belief systems are 'very' important to you, please let that be known to your therapist so you can collaboratively assess if the 'philosophical fit' is healthy enough for the both of you.  If thoughts of harming self or others are present in your thinking, please alert your therapist or intake evaluator so they may immediately attend to your safety needs. If you are having those thoughts / behaviors right now (in Albuquerque), please call 911 or contact
