Dlaija New Healing
About
Daija’s mission is to help patients daily make the changes in life that matter the most to them. We are hoping to pull people out of the brinks of despair and suffering and help them see the light of change. We hope to support every individual we encounter to gain an understanding of self and the power of self, to move forward in life and open the doors to their future that have been locked due to struggles with Alcohol and illicit substances that plague our community. Our ultimate mission is to remove the veil of ignorance created by dependence on negative coping skills and bring patients into the light of self.
I am Bilal Abdullah, I was born and raised in the inner cities of Chicago Illinois. I have been helping individuals that struggle with Substance abuse disorders for nearly ten years. I am a Licensed Clinical addictions counselor in the states of New Jersey and Ohio, I have a master's in urban education/counseling from Norfolk State University. My approach is one that utilizes the skills of Motivational Interviewing and CBT, mixed in with concepts of Choice Theory. My approach is to work with patients in order to support them in finding what they want in their recovery and life journeys, to create their own happiness. I hope my patients are able to tap into the inner potential within themselves. So often patients do not think they have the capability to change and due to their behaviors, they label themselves bad people. I hope that while we together as a therapeutic team go on this journey of recovery, they gain the self-confidence to rebuild their self-esteem and find the healing they need.
