About
I am a passionate CEO. I have a Master of Arts in Psychology Degree, a Certificate in Christian Counseling, pursuing a MSW Degree and will have completed my dissertation by 2021 to become Dr. Joi Johnson in Christian Counseling. With my dedication to God and the principles and theories I've learned, along with my experiences, I give practical living and Biblical teachings to my clients. My clients can testify that after the first session, I have made a difference for the better in their life. For example, after speaking with a married couple who was on the verge of separating, they "began again" as if it was their wedding day. After about 2-3 sessions together, there wasn't a need for counseling anymore. Although there is no quick fix, I encourage clients to apply the tools I give them to enhance and improve their situation for the better. How did you get started in this business?
Shepherd for the Shattered was conceived in about 2002 when a spiritual leader in the Church I attended told me that God was making me a shepherd for the shattered because of all the severe hardships I was going through in my life--including being a single mother raising three small children alone while working full-time. The hardships paid off. I am now the entrepreneur for Shepherd for the Shattered (counseling service). I can counsel not only from what I have educated myself in but also from my experiences. Shepherd for the Shattered is a non-profit organization with a 501(c)(3). "...all things work together for the good to them that love God...."
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have counseled people who were severely depressed--wanting to commit suicide; experienced anxiety and self-esteem issues; married couples with marital issues; teenagers with mood disorders and identity issues--to name a few.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of a married couple who came to counseling for marital issues of infidelity. They have been married for over 7 years. After about the third counseling session (each counseling session was 2 weeks apart), they were going on vacation to enjoy each other. After they returned they realized they no longer needed marital counseling but to continue practicing the tools that I gave them.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Look for a pro in counseling who is passionate about counseling others. This affects the customers and brings healing to their situation.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
The questions customers should think through is what kind of counseling do they need, will they be able to help, will they be able to share personal issues without being judged, and last but not least, can they afford the pro?
