I have written a book called “Daydreams Come True” it is a self coaching workbook which is different from any other self-help book in that I ask you very targeted questions to get you to search your soul for the answers you have been seeking and help you identify limiting beliefs. After you have identified what your limiting beliefs are and why you have developed them, i then guide you to develop new beliefs that support what you really want in your life. This is true empowerment. It is different from life coaching in that you create the answers, you see the bigger picture, and you create a new path for your life. I am merely the facilitat...

I believe in therapy and the how it helps individuals, couples, and families learn communication and acceptance so they feel connected. This is what I offer clients when they enter into a counseling relationship with me. I offer them a safe environment where its okay to communicate thoughts and feelings. My compassion for others drives me to deeply care about the wellbeing of my clients. Many people frequently tell me about how my presence helps them feel calm and relaxed, which I realize can be of great help in these stressful and hectic times. I love helping others feel better, find meaning, and be able to process the things that they have been through. We can all become stronger, more resilient people from the challenges that we have faced.

Your cognitive behavioral therapy questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thervo.

How much does cognitive behavioral therapy cost?

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) costs $100 to $250 per session without insurance, depending on your location. Prices are on the high end of the range in major metropolitan areas like Los Angeles and New York. Many therapists offer virtual therapy appointments for $50 to $200 per session

The average cost of CBT with insurance is $20 to $60 per session for the copay. However, many health insurance plans do not cover therapy costs unless you have a billable diagnosis, such as depression or bipolar disorder.

Online therapy costs $50 to $110 per week for a membership plan or $85 to $135+ per session. Onlien therapy websites provide therapy in a variety of formats, depending on the site. Popular formats include text messaging, online chat, email, phone, or live video sessions with a licensed therapist.

What is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)?

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a popular form of therapy that focuses on identifying and changing thought patterns that have a negative influence on your behavior or emotions. CBT is a structured, goal-oriented treatment approach based on these core principles:

  • Our thoughts impact our feelings and behaviors.
  • Our deeply rooted core beliefs impact how we view ourselves, our environment, and our future.
  • Unhelpful thought patterns can contribute to mental health problems and negative behaviors.
  • Recognizing how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected and changing how we think can improve our mental health and well-being.

What can cognitive behavioral therapy help with?

Cognitive behavioral therapy can help with a wide variety of concerns, including these and more:

  • Depression and mood changes
  • Eating disorders
  • Anxiety or panic attacks
  • Chronic stress
  • Phobias
  • Addiction and substance use
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Marriage and relationship problems
  • Grief and loss
  • Personality disorders

Does cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy is one of the most successful treatment methods available. Many research studies have demonstrated CBT to be as effective as or more effective than other therapy methods and medications.

However, CBT works best for individuals who take an active role in their treatment and apply the skills and techniques learned in their therapy sessions to challenges they face in everyday life. It's also important to remember results take time, and though CBT can significantly improve your mental health, some issues could persist after therapy ends.

Where can I find the best cognitive behavioral therapist near me?

When searching for a therapist for CBT, it's important to choose one who makes you feel comfortable, safe, and respected. Follow these tips in your search:

  • If you have a specific concern—such as depression, stress, or addiction—look for therapists who specialize in that area.
  • Ask your medical provider for recommendations.
  • Read reviews from other clients on Thervo and Google.
  • Confirm the therapist accepts your insurance or offers a sliding-scale rate.
  • Ask about telemedicine and virtual visit options.
  • Schedule an initial consultation to make sure you're happy with the therapist's communication style and empathy.

What questions should I ask cognitive behavioral therapists?

Ask these questions to help you find the best therapist for you:

  • How long have you been practicing?
  • What are your certifications?
  • What is your philosophy as a therapist?
  • Are you more directive or guiding in your sessions?
  • What does a typical therapy session look like?
  • How long will each session last?
  • Do you give homework or reading assignments?
  • How many sessions do you expect I'll need?
  • How do you determine success in therapy?
  • What is your success rate in treating past clients with this issue?

Prompt response and professional service. I was looking for professional help to work on some personal issues and I found Karen. She has been very helpful and has helped me to set some goals for personal improvement. One of the things I like about Karen is her practical counseling approach, no none sense or just an ear to hear me with no practical or achievable plan. I think she is very understanding and empathetic. After every session I can understand the reasons behind certain behavior patterns which really help me to make some improvements in my personal and social life, and I also have some homework (which I think is important) that reminds me that improvement does not end once the counseling session ends but constant practice is important. In my opinion Karen is a great professional to reach out to if you need someone understanding who really enjoys helping others. I'm not someone who writes reviews about anything or everything but I think this is a review well deserved.

Revive Counseling has really made a difference in my life! I was going through a tough and confusing time in my life and I was really stuck. I did not fully realize how stuck until Kim Hall helped me to realize the depth of it. She was in partial as she could be with the one side of the experience with my ex wife and gave me some observations about myself. After giving me some exercises to help do some self reflection, I realized I was really stuck. Some of the exercises I did not do and that set me back at times, but when I did them, they help with giving me clarity. I finally had a break through. I am not fully recovered ,but I am on my way. Kim was easy to talk to and share even though she was a stranger recommended by a church member. She was flexible with my schedule. You should not put a price on mental health, but the fee was very affordable and fit in my budget well to help me heal but not break the bank. I thank the Lord God for putting me in the path of Kim and Revive Counseling because God gave us free will, but when we listen and submit to His will, it makes life easier especially when he sends you guidance through people.

I am recommending Life Path Holistic Counseling and Consulting for counseling and mental health therapy. Jenny Renville has helped me during troubled times. Mrs. Renville has helped me to cope with my personal and professional problems in a holistic way. Coping without the aid of psychotropic medication has enabled me to use other means of dealing with my issues in a holistic way. I am learning how to deal with stress without suppressing my feelings through other means or sources. Seek Mrs. Renville for therapy, she is the best!

Going through severe personal issues in attending to my wife, sick with cancer, with my religious beliefs and sexuality, I met Helena online. She listened to me, handled my emotional outbursts and self-destructive ideas with outstanding patience and taught me meditative relaxation, which I started practicing and will, most probably lifetime.
