About

There are times in our lives when problems can feel overwhelming, painful, and difficult to face alone. Relying on friends and family may not be possible due to their own involvement in the situation. Talking things through with a therapist can help you gain perspective and make better choices that will work for you. I work closely with you to find solutions and new ways of responding to and coping with personal issues and situations. I also can help you deal with symptoms of depression and anxiety that often accompany handling difficult situations.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic - drawing from evidence-based psychological therapies such as, cognitive behavioral therapy/techniques, family systems, psychodynamic theory, person-centered therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. I use elements from these approaches to help you decide what are viable paths, coping strategies, &/or life options.

In addition to resolving issues and situations, I emphasize redefining yourself & your relationships with others; I help you discover life purpose, meaning, & hope; & together, we look for ways to promote personal growth & strengths. If you are facing a challenging situation or are ready to move in a new direction, I look forward to meeting with you.

    Frequently asked questions

My office verifies insurance benefits so that you know what your insurance will cover.  This means no surprises in terms of costs to you at the first appointment.  Paperwork can now be completed online before the first appointment.

The first appointment is spent understanding the issues, and concerns, and psychosocial history.  The next appointment is where problem-solving begins.  Of course, the technique used to resolve the issue depends on the issue at hand.
