What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When we receive a call for services I try to contact them within 24 hours. We try to see them for their initial session with 7 calendar days. How did you get started in this business?
Since at least 6th grade I had wanted to be a Psychiatrist. Seventh grade science teacher killed that dream. But then I learned what it takes to become a psychiatrist so I switched it to Psychologist. I was lucky enough to be working at Washburn as a secretary on the same floor as the Social Work Department. Was informed that as an employee, the school would cover the cost of 1 class. I did it and well, the rest is history

I have worked with a wide variety of clients.
Families with children at risk of being removed from the home.
Families fighting the foster care system
Severe and Persistently Mentally Ill (SPMI) adults
Severely Eomtionally Disturbed (SED) kids

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Anytime I see a client struggling and see their ability to laugh, smile, experience any alleviation of their symptoms.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Don’t give up. Finding the right therapist is kind of like finding a spouse. Most people don’t marry their first kiss. While some may be luck enough.
i frequently tell my new clients that my overriding goal is to make sure when they leave my office they will keep the idea of therapy in their positive experience bucket.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Insurance coverage, time available, type of person they want to work with.
