I think it is very helpful to have a general idea of the kinds of things you want to work on therapy and have a good understanding of what you hope to gain from the process. The most important factor in determinng a successful outcome in therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist. Be sure to ask lots of questions and make sure you feel comfortable with the therapist and see them as someone you can trust.
