I draw upon diverse resources to approach the counseling process from the perspective of the strengths of the client and his or her place in life. A particular passion of mine is Adventure Based Counseling/Education and training on a variety of topics. In addition to my therapy practice, I have been an adjunct instructor at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in the Psychology and Human Services departments. Frequently asked questions

Our process begins with an Initial Assessment.  During this meeting, we will discuss what brought you to seek counseling and what area(s) of your life you would like to work toward improving. From there we will develop a plan and implement strategies to help you get to your good life.

I have a background in ministry so I have a degree in theology/ministry as well as training and experience in all aspects of mental health with a concentration in addictions work.

I get excited to help people become the best version of themselves.  I love to walk with people as they explore their own strengths and grow toward healing and wholeness.

I have worked with a great variety of clients ranging in age from adolescents through mature adults.  Many of the clients I have worked with come to me with issues of anxiety, depression, trauma history, addictions or relationship struggles.

The relationship between client and therapist is essential to the therapy process.  Find someone with whom you are able to feel "comfortable with in the discomfort."  All change involves some level of discomfort so it is important that a level of trust and comfort is felt early on in the process.
