About
I specialize in treating insomnia and have many years of experience treating depression, anxiety, OCD, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I have a private practice that allows me to be flexible with scheduling and creating a safe, comfortable and confidential office setting.
I love meeting people and being invited into their lives through the therapy process. I find individuals' life stories to be so interesting and I'm always ready to join with them in helping them reach their goals!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First session is building rapport and getting an idea of challenges that client is facing and goals they wish to accomplish. If the client wishes to move forward with engaging in the therapy process with me, we then schedule our next appointment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my Masters Degree in Social Work in 1997 from the University of Iowa. I have specialized training in CBTi (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia). I have Level II training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma. I have years of experience and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression and anxiety as well. I also have experience and training in Exposure/Response Prevention Therapy for phobias and Obesessive Compulsive Disorder.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I accept Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Medicare. If private pay, my rate is $125 per session.
How did you get started in this business?
I believe that social work was a "calling"for me. I came to the profession in my late 30's and have worked in various settings including schools, hospitals, and agency mental health clinics. I began my own private practice a year ago in an effort to provide more flexible scheduleing and services to individuals seeking help.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with people who suffer from insomnia, depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and people just working through life changes and transitions.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently helped a young lady who was suffering from intrusive and obsessional thoughts that caused her high levels of anxiety throughout her day. After four months of weekly sessions she is now free of her obsessional thoughts and has the tools to use if those thoughts become problematic again. She reports she is so happy to feel confident that she knows how to manage her thoughts and moods!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Always make sure you feel comfortable and confident of the therapist you meet with. If you don't feel that your therapist is the right "fit", you should seek out someone else. You must trust and enjoy working with your therapist in order to meet your goals!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is getting in the way of your daily functioning? What would you like your life to look like if you could change it? Are you ready to make yourself a priority so you can commit your time and money to weekly therapy session? What is your happiness worth?
