Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. Check counselor availability and schedule an appointment on Mondays or Tuesdays between 9 am - 8 pm by sending a text to 404-550-5343
2. First session includes consultation to make sure it is a good fit for the client and the counselor. If so, schedule next appointment.
3. All sessions last 50 minutes. This counselor does not believe in endless treatment. Most issues can be "fixed" in 8 to 12 weeks. The client would only come back for a tune-up as needed or new issues.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My goal is to help people avoid the same mistakes I made in life, and to help them avoid that pain and suffering. To help people live their best life yet which is why I specialize in being a Recovery Counselor.
I am the former founder, chief executive officer, and servant leader of an innovative outpatient treatment center, DecisionPoint Wellness in Johns Creek Georgia, for men, woman, and families that struggle with addiction and co-occurring mental health issues. I’m also a mentor, author, inspirational keynote speaker, a level II certified alcohol and drug counselor, a certified anger management specialist, and a treatment consultant. After winning my 35-year battle against alcoholism and other substance use disorders, I felt called to dedicate my life to serving those that need help, hope and love to become the best version of themselves.
My son and the co-author of our book Recovery of a Lifetime is NFL Super Bowl XLIV hero, champion and former New Orleans Saints safety Chris Reis. Chris became part of football history when he recovered the onside kick at the beginning of the second half against the Indianapolis Colts, which is credited for altering the mood—and the course—of the entire game itself. It was that play and the spirit-led principles of how Chris led his life off the field that inspired me to make a recovery of his own. I talk about my dark and painful past to give others hope and to inspire them to get the help they need. By publicly sharing his story, I want to break the stigma of addiction, so others can enjoy a purpose-filled life that only comes through long-term sobriety. I’m very passionate about teaching men and woman that leaving a Legacy that they can be proud of will positively impact their family for generations to come.
Prior to counseling, I enjoyed a successful career as an executive with some of the world’s best-known brands like Hallmark Cards, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Group, PepsiCo, and ConAgra Foods before starting DecisionPoint Wellness Center in 2015. He graduated with honors from Georgia State University with a B.A. in liberal arts and business. I am a member of several state and national addiction certification boards and counseling associations. I believes in an evidence-based approach where mind, body, and spirit are integrated to achieve optimal functioning and quality of life.
I attend North Point Community Church, and my private practice is in Johns Creek or Suwanee.

How did you get started in this business?
I didn't like the person I had become after multiple failed marriages, issues with my family, my substance abuse, feeling unworthy, unlovable and like I was never enough. I decided to leave the corporate world to write a book about my life then get my clinical training so I could help people "recover" from their past, their mistakes, their hurts and habits. I want to help people make their own "Recovery of a Lifetime."
What types of customers have you worked with?
All types and gender.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
When selecting a therapist or counselor, make sure that they specialize in your area of need. Most only have general knowledge and training in a lot of areas, but it's important that you specifically ask or see what areas they are credentialled. For example, don't see a general LPC for family or marriage help. Instead, you should be seeking a LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist). Also, ask about specific training for trauma or addiction.
Another piece of advice is to work with someone that develops a specific treatment plan with their clients and provides a general timeline to accomplish your goals. The days of being in therapy for years is over. Yes, seeing your therapist on a regular basis for a tune up or when an issue arrises is a good idea, but there has to be a game plan and a strategy for resloving issues.
