Christina Algeciras Therapy & Counseling
About
Available for online or in person therapy.
I am passionate about helping people realize their potential. Hope, growth, and transformation are possible; you do not have to stay stuck in the hamster wheel that is sadness, pain, and anxiety. Through therapy and counseling services I help people rediscover themselves, their goals, and their aspirations. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities to help people untangle their "stuff" and move towards a life that feels meaningful. My goal is to support people through their difficulties and help them gain the skills to thrive, no matter what life throws at them.
I am focused on working with people who feel like they do not know where they fit in this world, particularly women and girls. I also have experience working with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, traumatic history, acculturation difficulties, life changes, and chronic health conditions.
I received my masters degree in counseling from Nova Southeastern University and work as a therapist. I am also a wellness entrepreneur and have been providing health and wellness services to children and adults for over 10 years using yoga, mindfulness, and creative expression. Prior to my career in wellness, I was an airline industry executive for 15 years, so I know the stresses of high-pressure jobs first hand.

I enjoy learning about people and helping them discover hope and new ways of viewing the world. I love that people can learn that they are so much more resilient than they think. When people begin to have hope and can see their strengths they do so much more than they ever thought they could. Amazing freedom comes from building courage and hope and I am lucky to walk alongside my clients in their journeys.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In the first few sessions, we get to know each other. I may ask you for specific information about what difficulties you are dealing with, your personal history, and what you would like to achieve in therapy.
We develop what is called, a working alliance. A working alliance allows for trust to develop from where the client and therapist collaborate on goals and treatment.
Part of what we do in these sessions is also helping you learn about different conditions, skills, possible insights, and new thoughts or behaviors.
Certain styles of therapy may follow specific step-by-step protocols, however, it is my view that each person is a unique individual, as such my work is tailored to the whole person and not a specific issue or disorder. My approach is holistic and eclectic.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I think it's important to reach out to a few people. Get a sense of the therapist as a person. Your therapist is someone you trust, so it is really important that you feel safe, seen, and heard by this person. The therapeutic relationship is based on mutual respect so it is important that you and your time are valued by your therapist and vice versa.
If you do not feel like you can be yourself, you feel judged, unsafe, or disrespected then it is time to look for someone else.
