About

Having 41 years of experience as a therapist, I've worked with adolescents all the way to octogenarians. I am an Online Only therapist. I work with both individuals as well as couples and families, using a therapeutic focus called CBT. In my "spare time" I usually teach one or 2 college classes in psychology/critical thinking. This translates into my staying up-to-date on the most current trends and understandings in the field of psychology.

I am a very involved therapist. My clients typically see me for an hour each week. In-between sessions, my folks contact me with texts or emails and I am fairly fast at responding. In this way, therapy is not isolated to one hour every seven days. My approach is to teach the skills and give the client the best tools for their life.

Does someone in your life have to cope with debilitating trauma and PTSD? I work with persons who have experienced trauma and today have PTSD. Through a method called EMDR, patients can learn to minimize traumatic events. EMDR is proven to help significantly in trauma victims.

Grief is something we all have to deal with, as we all have an "end date". Grief counseling normally takes 6-8 sessions.

Many people feel it really helps to see a therapist weekly for an hour. The consistency of therapy allows clients to grow healthier through inviting and motivating topics that will help you become happier and living life with more purpose.

I am a very motivated and happy woman - this translates into a positive experience for all involved. My new clients almost alway tell me that their relationships and personal needs are getting better even after the first session! I'd love to be your therapist, and I look forward to meeting you soon!

Elizabeth with Creative Options helped me greatly during a professional transition. She has not only taught me how to decrease my anxiety but also how to successfully handle it when it is present. I continue to see Elizabeth weekly and I am forever grateful for her support, professionalism, and expertise!

Dede is VERY invested as a therapist. She really cares about her client and goes above and beyond outside of sessions as well. I’m well aware because I’m a counselor as well. Highly recommend!

    Frequently asked questions

Typically, a client hires me to provide weekly, one hour therapy sessions. We meet online through a Zoom Therapy Room. The first appointment is more about me getting to know you and those around you who may help or hinder your progress. We will go over any Goals you know you want to set into motion on the first meeting. After that, we meet and talk - you formulate the things that are highest on your list of problems and then you help prioritize what we will work on and I will give you some homework for you to try until the next session. Once a client feels relaxed and able to talk openly, you will build you therapy needs and wants. If life isn't what the client wishes it to be, we will work on this in an organized way, touching on possible problems and building on developing dreams. I want to listen to everything you have to say. I may stop you at times to clarify what you mean or to ask for some specific examples. From there we set a course of action and we work towards those actions to bring renewed hope and some needed assurance so you can make those dreams come true. We are not talking about being someone you are not today, but in how to refine who you are today in a way that will help you feel positives much more regularly!

I began as a therapist and diagnostician in my early 30's. I have a double Bachelors in Educational Psychology and Art Therapy. I earned my Masters Philosophy. My doctoral is in Educational Psychology. My history in psychiatrics include running 3 Day Hospitals of America in the 80's and teaching at Texas Christian University during that time. I then went to Navajo Nation in Arizona to run and keep abreast of mental health and special needs for the inner Navajo Nation areas for 9 years. Before I arrived they did not have a clear course for treating teens through late-in-life adults. Often they were hospitalized, as if sick, and received no therapy and no connection to doctors who could help with the physiological aspects of their lives.

    I was so fortunate to land that job! I learned more in 9 years than any of my clients or staff. Isn't that just the way when we find jobs that are well-suited to our skills (known and unknown, at times) and we leave work happier at the end of a day than when the day began? I live in the Central Arizona Mountains (yes, we have mountains in Arizona). My service s are provided completely online. I see clients throughout the USA. When we all endured COVID19, I closed my offices and moved home. I now am able to charge HALF of what I charged when paying on a lease each month. In this way, my clients are getting the. most ' bang for their buck", as I charge $80 per hour. Once you begin seeing me, you will not incur an increase in price in the future. I am a never finished psychological book. I further increased my services to add EMDR to help trauma victims and those with PTSD; It is in this way that I am able to continue as an energized therapist, bringing new pieces to our sessions that make the most sense given the times we are in today.nbsp;

I charge $80 per hour session. Payment is made through either ZELLE or APPLE PAY. I provide you with a PAID IN FULL invoice after each session, once paid. You can then see if your insurance company will compensate you for a portion of the weekly cost. My charge is low because I like helping folks who may not have insurance for mental health, and the price point of $80 is what my clients can afford.

There is not a price to be placed on psychiatric services, but it is gouging to ask any person in need of help to not seek it because of monetary concerns. Discounts are available for those needing more than once a week therapy.

I was THAT person who others always came to for advice while a child and a teen. I took this seriously as something I might enjoy going forward. My first jobs were to help teachers cope with their stress and anxiety. To this day, I am an educator while also being a therapist to my students. My therapist hat is much like my father and grandfather's therapist hats. Now I have two great nieces who are also therapists. Psychology runs thick in the DeWolfe's skill sets.

My counseling approach is in the area of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  I used Reality Therapy prior to adapting clients to Cognitive Therapy, which takes in the past as well as the present and future. It's important that you know your strengths and how to realistically use those strengths to meet new and improved personal goals.

From my full educational background to the 41 years of practice as a therapist, I continue to enjoy my work every single day!
My clients range in age from 9-90. I provide CB therapy in areas of individuals, families and couples. I work with clients who struggle with being happy, getting a long well with others and coping with life in a way that leads to successes. I work with trauma and PTSD folks. I also work with behavioral issues that are impacting lives in a negative way. I have a lot of experience working with the LGBTQ+ crowd. My clients often are also looking for some spiritual guidance. I always have a soft spot to help those who are grieving. It takes a very good listener to assist persons with death...Grief Therapy is often just 6-8 sessions. As I have lost 138lbs and am healthy as can be, those with diet needs will also find success for losing or gaining weight. I am in process of writing a book about Weight Loss called "Getting to the Hard Lard" I enjoy working with those who have big emotions, too much anxiety, OCD and depression. Addictions with alcoholism and other drugs are things I can help clients to change and find a much better sober life for their futures. Many artists, musicians and performers find that life can be especially difficult. As a working artist, I encourage creative growth; creative growth leads to a person feeling that their life makes sense and feels comfortable. My clients who are under 18 are seen while an adult is in ear-shot. Many of my younger clients are in school full time - with weekly therapy, grades tend to go up and organizational skills get much better. All-in-all, I seek to help people who want to feel better and grow into a person they can be very proud of in this life !
As a family therapist I see mom, dad and the kids either all together or in individual settings. One of my families has two teens where the grandparents act as mom and dad. AS time has gone by, the family members get along better and even enjoy many times each week together. The teens and the grandparents were pleased with therapy so they referred me to other extended family members. Today I have met almost every member in one family, from grandma to second cousins. This is brought me tremendous joy - what a lovely family, ALL wanting to feel better and enjoy life more.

My clients need to understand that change is possible and made probable in therapy. If a counselor tells you that they can fix everything quickly, beware. If a therapist breaks down the levels of care that can and will be provided by a good therapist to you through hard work on your part, you are looking at a realistic approach to therapy that should help you to gain a better quality of life.

Look for Cognitive Behavioral Therapists (CBT), and then see if they offer some of the more fine tuned approaches to therapy which include Reality Therapy, Positive Reinforcement Therapy or Mindfulness Therapy. I offer these detailed ways of working with a client.

Look for college degrees, look for modality in therapeutic approaches, and look for a person who is empathetic/kind/mindful of you.

Have the problems you are having to deal with altered your ability to cope with everyday things in a positive way?

Are you feeling sad, hopeless, or fearful? Are your feelings full of anger, resentment and accusatory components?

Do you want to be better tomorrow than today? Have you tried to do this on your own and feel like you have failed.

Are your problems such that you do not want to tell your friends or family?

Can you commit to an hour a week session with homework from a therapist?
