- Ask friends and family that are in therapy if they like their therapist. if so find out what they like about them and then have them ask the therapist for referral.
- Do your research and make calls to talk with the individuals, ask questions that may concern you.
- Make sure you are comfortable with this individual

Take time to learn about policies
The counselor is not able to fix you because you are NOT broken!
You might feel worse Before you start to feel better, it is a process that takes time
If you feel uncomfortable or the counselor / therapist offend you, speak up!
