My name is Barbara Samaan. I am the founder of New Life Counseling Center LLC. I hold a clinical license in the State of New Jersey as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have 20 years of experience counseling children, adolescents, and adults. I have a wide variety of experiences including counseling, teaching, supervising interns and psychiatry fellows, in addition to, serving as a consultant to a medical facility at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey(UMDNJ)/Rutgers University. I received my masters’ degree in counseling from Nyack College and conducted doctoral work in counseling psychology at Argosy University. I have substantial knowledge and experience counseling children, adolescents and adults and working with individuals, couples, and families. Additionally, I have specific skills in working with childhood disorders, chronic illness, disability, depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, faith based counseling, and histories of trauma, abuse, and neglect.

You can expect empathy, genuineness, and warmth as I believe these characteristics are crucial to building rapport and providing a safe environment needed in the counseling process. I use a wide variety of theories and interventions as I believe difficulties and problems have a complexity of causes and explanations. Early childhood experiences, unresolved conflicts related to any kind of loss, and dysfunctional thought patterns are all examples of factors that affect current functioning. Thus, various techniques will be utilized in counseling to explore and explore and examine the root causes of current difficulties, assist in coping with negative emotions, cognitively restructure thought processes, increase self-confidence and efficacy, and improve emotional, psychological, social, and physical functioning.
