Hawthorne Counseling, LLC
About
There are times when life throws experiences your way that require extra support and care. Hawthorne Counseling will help you, you and your partner(s), as well as your child and family navigate these challenging times. Our counselors help you break down roadblocks that keep you from having fulfilling and loving relationships with yourself and others. We work with people who experience anxiety, depression, behavior issues, trauma, grief & loss, relationship conflict, divorce, abandonment, and attachment & adjustment challenges.
Psychotherapy is a process in which we discuss areas of concern to better understand the sources of issues with which you are struggling. This helps you make sense of your life experiences so you can move forward the calmer, more joyful, and fulfilled individual we are all meant to be.
Personal growth can be uncomfortable or even downright painful, but the counselors at Hawthorne Counseling will support you in discovering your inner power to achieve the life you want. I have experience working with couples counseling, individuals with anxiety, depression, and peer relationship issues. I am an inclusive provider; welcoming LGBTQ+ and any ethnicity.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initially when we begin our work we will have an hour and fifteen minute session. Regular sessions are 45-50 minutes. We need this extra time to go over background, family history, some medical background, symptoms, and get to know each other. This last part is especially important because the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of working together. After this initial session, you will lead the session by bringing to the session what is on the for front of your mind. Then we delve into the "heart" of the matter and together make sense of the situation, thought pattern, or concern. I often use an archaeology analogy. We carefully and intricately chip away at the sand, dirt, and rocks that might be obscuring our understanding of what is underneath. Finally bit by bit it is revealed and you have a clear understanding that which is holding you back from the life you want. We will also discover somethings about human nature and the way we as humans think in order to further healing, communication, and growth.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's of Science in Counseling from the University of Central Missouri; a CACREP accredited program, and graduated with honors. I am a nationally certified counselor. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Missouri.
