About

I help people who are in pain or who have chronic illnesses feel better without medication or surgery. I do this by identifying the root cause of the illness, then addressing it with acupuncture in a way that works naturally with your body. I create a individual treatment plan that helps your body's natural healing mechanisms to take over. So you can live a happier, healthier pain-free life. I am certified in Facial rejuvenation with microneedling and nanoneedling for lines, wrinkles, age spots and alopecia (hair loss).

I started as a patient myself, with low back pain. I am a physician assistant, and my work aggregated an old injury. One of my friends suggested acupuncture, so I gave it a try. I decided while I was on the table that I needed to become an acupuncturist. I wanted to be able to give my own patients the same level of listening and tending that I received. My back pain resolved with treatment, and I also became more peaceful and calm and less stressed about life in general. Acupuncture was a life saver for me. I enjoy giving this to my patients and relieving their pain.

Jean is friendly, easy to communicate with, non-judgmental, and always makes sure I am comfortable. Going to her has helped my pain and anxiety. She explains everything before she does it and provides useful information when needed. I always leave in a relaxed, uplifted mood. You will feel very taken care of here!

Years ago, I had an excellent experience with acupuncture utilized to improve symptoms that resulted from a neck injury. I also had sessions to help healing after a surgery. I recently learned that Jean is providing acupuncture treatment at a central and convenient location in Towson. Her office is lovely, very clean, and comfortable. Jean took a thorough history and is working with me to achieve my healthcare goals. She has a very gentle and caring manner. In just a few weeks, I have noticed considerable improvement. I would highly recommend Jean.

I had been experiencing knee pain due to arthritis. My doctors prescribed rote treatments like physical therapy (which made things worse) and cortisone shots (which did nothing). I took matters in my own hands and started acupuncture with Jean. She really cares about my health and well-being; not only did the acupuncture help with my pain, but I now feel seen and heard. That makes all the difference in the world when it comes to successful treatment.

I had been experiencing a lot of knee pain due to arthritis, and none of my doctors seemed to want to do anything other than the rote physical therapy (which made things worse) or cortisone shots. I took matters in my own hands and started acupuncture with Jean. What a difference it made! Not only for my pain level, but for my state of mind. Jean actually cares about my health and well-being, which makes all the difference in the world as far as treatment is concerned.

Prior to receiving a Masters degree in Acupuncture from the Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly the Traditional Acupuncture Institute) in Columbia, Maryland in 2000, I was working as a Physician Assistant. I had graduated from Essex Community college with a Physician Assistant Certificate in 1992 and worked primarily in an outpatient setting seeing patients with a wide variety of illnesses. I enjoyed my work and loved the connection that I had with my patients.

Long hours of work re-aggravated a back injury sustained in a car accident years before. I was seen by many physicians and specialists. The usual tests and therapies were completed, yet no treatment or therapy seemed to relieve my symptoms. One of my friends suggested acupuncture, and as a last ditch effort, I decided to give it a try.

I have to say that acupuncture completely changed my life. With regular visits, my back pain resolved within 6 months. For the first time in years I was pain free. However, other aspects of my life changed as well. I was happier and less stressed. My friends and family noticed how much more relaxed and easy going I had become. To this day, I continue to use acupuncture to maintain my health and well being.

Back to that first life changing acupuncture visit and why we are here now at East to West Medicine. During the visit, we talked about my injury, the pain, and its effect on my life. We also discussed my life, my career, and where I saw myself in the future. My pain and injury were significant, and so were the other aspects of my life. Each aspect affected the other. My acupuncturist was interested in treating all of me: body, mind, and spirit. I felt cared for and tended.

It was during this visit, that I realized that something was missing in the way I practiced medicine as a physician assistant. What was missing was the human holistic approach. I wanted my patients to experience the care and tending that I received during my acupuncture treatments. I wanted to be able to treat the whole person, not just symptoms.

This is an exciting time for me as I relaunch my full time acupuncture practice. My current approach to health care is holistic, emphasizing the patient’s overall well being. I recognize that many factors affect health, including exercise, diet, rest, environment and heredity.

I practice whole-person health care with the vision to see the human body as much more than the sum of its parts. I see my clients as more than people coming to my office with a set of symptoms. My vision encompasses the entire individual in all of his or her unique complexity, and I work in partnership with my clients to ensure optimal health and wellness in all facets of their lives.

Acupuncture focuses on maintaining optimal health naturally so that the body is better able to resist disease. Through identifying the root cause of your symptom or illness and then addressing the imbalance in a way that works naturally with your body, acupuncture seeks to restore optimum health so the body’s natural healing mechanisms can take over. I would love to be your guide, working in partnership, as you take back your health and life. Call me at 410-984-3700 and we can discuss how acupuncture can serve you in your quest for health and well-being. Schedule an appointment today!

Wishing you health in body, mind, and spirit.

    Jean

I have worked with all types of physical, emotional and spiritual conditions.  Acupuncture is amazing for the entire body, mind and spirit.  I have worked with all types of pain syndromes, back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, stress, anxiety, depression, headaches, stomach issues, menstrual issues, smoking cessation.  I love to work with caregivers...they give so much and need special care for themselves as well.

Look into the Pro's education.  Are they licensed by the state, did they take a weekend course in acupuncture or do they have a Masters degree in acupuncture?

The number one question I get is about insurance.  Most insurance companies do cover acupuncture.  I would have them ask their insurance company if they cover acupuncture and under what conditions.  What is their copay and deductible.
