About
Dr. Machelle Perkins, established her practice in 1999. She takes pride in offering one on one treatments in a spa like setting. She accepts most major insurance companies. While the patient is getting treated she offers healthy treats, beverage and a movie for the spouse or driver while waiting. Her training is not limited to traditional Chinese Medicine but also in functional medicine which allows her to offer several different modalities to treat all types of conditions and illness. She received a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida, a post graduate degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Florida Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and also a Medical Degree in Naturopathy from St. Luke's University School of Medicine.
Dr. Perkins is nationally and state board certified by the National Certification of Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the Florida Department of Health as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine.
Acupuncture with and without Electric Stimulation, Homeopathic Injections, Two Different Types of Laser Treatments, Micro-current Point Stimulation (MPS) Therapy, Cupping, Rain Drop Therapy Massage, Aqua Detox, Smoking Cessation (Auricular Acupuncture), Aromatherapy (Young Living), Nutritional Counseling for Weight Loss and other health issues, MRS2000 (similar to Bemer mat), Chinese Medicine, Herbal Supplements, Bio-identical Hormone Replacement, Extensive Lab Testing from Spectracell, BioHealth, Cell Science Systems, and Sanesco.
Dr. Perkins specializes in treating acute to chronic pain, menopausal symptoms, infertility and mental health issues. She is able to help patients reduce the amount of medication by treatment modalities and/or Chinese Herbs and Nutritional Supplements.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New patients are able to access the Intake Paper via www.naturalmedtherapies.com or via email. If you are interested in verifying insurance benefits, it is required the send Insurance Information 48 hours prior to the visit.
The initial consultation is an 1.5 hour session in which Dr. Perkins reviews your complete medical history. If it is appropriate for the medical condition and there is time, she will offer an acupuncuture or laser treatment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Dr. Perkins is in network with Cigna, United Healthcare, VA, Blue Cross Blue Shield (Federal and Out of State) and the fee schedule is based on your insurance plan.
For self-pay patients, the initial consulation (1.5 hours) is $150 and $100 (1 hour). There are packages available to save additional money.
How did you get started in this business?
Dr. Perkins started her career in mental health. She worked with the most severe mental health patients in Hillsborough County. From the help of a childhood German penpal, she started learning about Homeopathy and Natural supplements which sparked an interest to further her career in helping patients holistically.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Dr. Perkins has treated professional football and baseball players, famous singers, actors and patients suffering from acute to chronic conditions. She enjoys challenging health conditions that other physicians have not been able to treat.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Dr. Perkins has lectured to The Society of Radiation Therapists on the benefits of Oriental Medicine for cancer patients. She has been interviewed on nationally broadcast Good Day New York and locally broadcast on Studio 10 where she discussed the benefits of Oriental Medicine. She treats a wide range of patients including celebrities and professional athletes.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would suggest looking at their years of practice and what type of services they offer. I specialize in seeing one patient per hour to offer a detailed examination and treatment every visit. I would also check their reviews on google and yelp.
