Welcome! I'm Maria Giuliana, MA, LMHC, and Founder of Beyond The Matter Counseling and Consulting Services LLC. I am committed to caring for the whole person: mind, body, spirit. Having served in the US Navy, I understand the unique stresses and full impact of the military lifestyle on our service members and their families. My areas of expertise include the treatment of trauma, relationship and intimacy issues, emotional difficulties, mindfulness and meditation, personal growth and development, and stage of life difficulties. I offer one-on-one, couples, and family counseling via WeCounsel (telemental health) and in an outpatient setting.
Your job is to create your own individual objectives for being in therapy. Like a good coach, my job is to help you reach them. I have many tools to help you become more effective in dealing with your issue, whether it be emotions, relationships, or events.
Everything you do that takes a sustained effort is driven by two motivations: *Avoid pain & *Move towards pleasure. The major aim of therapy is increasing your knowledge about yourself and the patterns of interaction between you and others and apply that new knowledge to break ineffective patterns and develop better ones.
