We (as a team) are usually able to achieve your Goals in Treatment within one >three sessions. However, though one glove does not fit all ~ most issues are resolved by our third session as we begin uncovering the underlying issues which prompted you to seek treatment.
How did you get started in this business?
Honestly, ... growing up as a child of a veteran, my father returned home from Vietnam, ending up severely traumatized and was eventually hospitalized. I watched him disappear as my father, becoming so out of touch with reality... our family fell apart and I was left alone, abandoned, grief stricken, depressed and confused.
This experience caused me to want to understand the dynamics of the mind, how emotional trauma affects all aspects of our lives and by the age of 17, I dropped out of HS, to get my GED and get to college to study Psychology ~ which I ended up doing for the rest of my life ( in between my marriage and the time off raising my children).
Later in life, the subconscious drive observed in my patients/clients, led me to delve deeper and continued with more education in many therapeutic approaches to understand more ways to assist clients return to a place of Center, peace and calm in their lives by resolving so many of those unconscious conflicts we've forgotten ~ which has a direct impact on our peace and happiness today.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All Realms.
Professionally, I've worked with both men and women (of all persuasions) in long-term treatment as a Assistant Program Director/Counselor of a inpatient treatment center for women and,
Ive also worked in an all male treatment addiction treatment center. Both facilities were located in NY.
So I am familiar with gender issues issues ~ though treatment is primarily the same, generally speaking.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The privilege of taking a front row seat in witnessing the miracles of change occur in so many wonderful people...Priceless!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Interview them.
Participate in an Intake but you should also ask questions about their levels of experience with Your Issue(s) and observe their comfort level and ease in their response.
This will demonstrate an insight into not only their experience, but their style of counseling and,.. if you think you could enjoy working with them and can feel safe in sharing your experiences and vulnerabilities (if that applies) with this individual.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Ask Questions:
"Do you have experience with my issues."
"Can you share how it was resolved... What interventions did you utilize and how long did it take?"
See if they LISTEN to you... are they genuine and sincere? This is important to you..it's why you're seeking advice and direction. So is your well-being truly important to them.
