About

I specialize in treating trauma, both single incident (e.g., car accident, assault) and complex (childhood abuse, combat) using a variety of treatment modalities, including CBT, DBT, SFBT, EMDR, The Comprehensive Resource Model, Trauma Dynamics, and NeurOptimal(R) Neurofeedback.

We first meet during a complimentary 20-minute consultation in which we explore how we might work together and decide whether it seems like a good fit. If we decide to proceed, the next step is a comprehensive intake, followed by goal setting for therapy.

My approach is a client-centered partnership: we work together towards your goals, but you are always in charge of what we do. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your unique needs by integrating a number of techniques and approaches, as appropriate. And I inform you every step of the way what we are going to do and why.

People who have suffered traumatic experiences are often in despair, believing that something is wrong with them and they will never be able to enjoy life. They are typically experiencing one or more debilitating symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) – depression, anxiety, panic attacks, addiction, obsessions/compulsions, etc. – that circumscribe their lives and keep them feeling powerless and often hopeless.

My passion is helping those who are suffering in this way to manage their symptoms and ultimately heal their traumas. If you are suffering with PTS symptoms, I would love to have a conversation to explain how we can work together to change your life for the better. There is hope!

Frequently asked questions

We meet for a 20-minute complimentary consultation during which we explore how we might work together. This gives you an opportunity to learn about my approach to counseling and to ask any questions you may have.

I earned a Bachelors in Business Administration from Loyola College and a Masters in Counseling Psychology, concentration in Clinical Counseling with Addictions Specialization, from the University of Denver.

My post-graduate education includes over 500 hours of advanced trauma training in approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), the Comprehensive Resource Model, and Trauma Dynamics.

I have Advanced Certification in NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback training.

Prior to starting a private practice in 2014, I worked in community mental health and at the Denver County Jail.

I do not accept insurance because I feel it’s important that you and I are able to determine the length and modality of your treatment. However, I do provide a Superbill that can be submitted to your insurance company if you have out-of-network benefits. I do accept Victim Compensation and provide free therapy to veterans and their families through Give an Hour.
