About

I have been in private practice for over 25 years in Long Beach and Orange County. I am currently located in the Torrance California.

I am as excited today as I was when I first began about my work and learning new ways to help people. I have had extensive training in various approaches to healing, including special training and certification in EMDR and Interactive Imagery.

with my late husband, Gerald L. Klein, Family law attorney for 35 years in Orange County, we founded a non profit organization, called Kids First. Kids First was founded for the purpose of helping children and their parents who were struggling with the break-up of their family, through divorce. I served as clinical Director for 22 years before we closed the doors due to funding problems.

My main specialties are addictions and related family issues and all divorce related issues, including Parental Alienation Syndrone. I also treat most mood disorders and PTSD.

It is my belief that healing takes place in a safe and supportive environment that allows the individual, couple or family to comfortably discuss their conerns and explore new ways of approaching the situation. I create a plan that involves the most effective and supportive methods for your particular needs.

I enjoy all aspects of exploring the thoughts and behaviors of people who struggle with the complexities of daily life. I have met some truly amazing people and have had the honor and privilege in assisting in their life journey.

Frequently asked questions

Process begins with a 10 min introductory phone session for assessing needs and goals. We discuss charges and policies and I answer any questions you may have.

The first session involves history taking, discussing types of treatment and recommendations. If time allows some stress management tools may be introduced and implemented. A treatment plan is formulated and an estimate of length of treatment.

In addition to my degree education, I have been trained and certified in a number of treatment modalities and continue my education with the development of up to date research and trainings.

I am certified in the use of EMDR, Interactive Imagery and Hypnosis.

Individual 50 minute session: Fees are flexible

Couples/family: Fees are flexible

Extended sessions if needed: priced in 15 min blocks of time.

Internet, Skype/phone: Package pricing is available based on individual needs.

In home visits: above charges plus travel time at $25 per 15 min blocks of time.

After extended time in my own therapy, I was encouraged by my therapist to go to school and persue a career in mental health. I have always had interest in human behavior and had done extensive reading on many topics. I was always told by friends  that I had unusual insight abilities and that they felt comfortable confiding in me. At one point I took a career course in junior college and the results also pointed strongly towards abilities in counseling. It was a later in life change for me after persuing other avenues that were unsatisfying. I knew I had found my place in life from the beginning of my educational journey.

I have worked with a variety of conditions from the everday stresses of life, anxiety and depression. I have also worked with more serious issues, some resulting in Post Traumatic Stress.

I have worked with people of various cultural and religious backgrounds as well as different lifestyles and sexual orientations.

I have focused heavily on problems of addiction, directly with the alcoholic/addict and also with the families members affected.

I have worked extensively with all issues involving divorce, including coparenting issues and Parental Alienation Syndrome.
